Messi did score 2 important goals in UCL finals, though. And that awesome goal against rm, in the semis, all by himself.
Oh man I stopped coming to this thread because it never changed
Yes he had a poor final & the over the top celebration for a goal that wouldn't make a difference had everything to do with the Stadium he was in & lost the Euro final in 2004 than anything but at least you lot know that he was injured for several weeks & didn't complete a single full training day all week until the game!! he was clearly not fit & it could have ended like Diego Costa as well .. he was simply used as decoy to keep Atletico defenders at bay
Jesus Christ you lot been throwing Messi was injured every bad game despite the fact that he was back from injury like 3-4 month ago... how about someone who was injured for several weeks & was pulled out early the game he started... you all do know that don't ya ?
Yet he was the best player in this year CL season , scoring 17 goals in 13 games breaking a new record and a game back from injury can't take that away from him ... end of story
Amazing justifications. How do you know his over the top celebration had something to do with that stadium?
And his knee injury? Exactly how bad was it? Amazing that you compared it to Messi's injury which put him out for more than two months. Says who he hasn't had a full training day until yesterday?
FYI, Messi was lambasted by many Cules after every single poor performance. One thing Messi would not do is to celebrate like he single-handedly change the outcome of the game, as if he was the king of the world in an occasion like yesterday's.
Bottom line, Ronaldo is a great player, but not likeable at all.
Beast said:who even cares ? it's not a popularity contest
It was all over the news last week regarding the stadium .. not a big secret neither is Ronaldo walking out early every training season this week , avoiding even some shooting exercises ... including the Friday training.. I mean you really have to be living in your own bubble if you didn't come by that news anywhere in the last 8 days
I didn't compare injuries . i compared how it was overlooked that he was given the green light before the game while used as an excuse in Messi case all the time since his injury ...
And who said anything about likeability ? who even cares ? it's not a popularity contest .. you are making stuff up as you go along aren't you ?
Bubble? Geez, not everyone is a Madridista like you who pays attention to every single thing happening to Ronaldo and Real Madrid, sorry. So if the game wasn't held at that stadium in Lisbon, he would not have pulled such an over the top celebration? Because we felt he vindicated himself by scoring a penalty at that stadium or something?
I agree, Ronaldo should be cut some slack for having a subpar performance yesterday, but hey, how many times has he done that this season even when he was healthy? Being invisible all game long and BAM, scoring an easy goal or a penalty? Sure, Messi has his fair share of that. But the criticism was NOT about his subpar performance, it was about his celebration GIVEN his subpar performance as if he scored a game winning goal or had a game of his life performance. Obviously it was all about Cristiano Ronaldo, first and foremost.
That's why he is not likeable. If you have problem with that, simply ignore this thread.
Ballon d'Or is, hehehe...
