Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

:beer2: Interesting. I think if he players behind a 9 he will have to rely more on his passing and playmaking and cut down on his huge amount of shots per game, if not then surely the number 9 would suffer. His passing is very under rate and if he's willing to let someone else be the star he can go back to being a support forward who provides assists, a bit like the early Ronaldo at United.

He was unlucky today..on another day he could have scored 4 goals. That header in the first half was awful. He should take a lengthy break now, maybe Madrid will leave him out of pre season to allow him to rest.
I agree with you here, I think one of the reasons that his passing is underrated is because he thinks about scoring more than passing.. hell he would take the impossible shot than pass an easy one .. he run after his personal record & glory if he can & that's what he did all his life
however he still provide assists but not as often as he can
I don't think he will take the back seat this year.. he will still fight to be number one *and IMO he will fail in it * he is at this age of his career where the decline will hurt him physically & mentally if he stays to the age of 32 probably he will settle for being no 2... that's if he didn't go to an obscure club to be their no 1
His knee will not allow him to shoot or score with the ease he usually do neither will it allow him to run like you said & I reiterate what I said in the last page he really needs what physios call a negative rest ... which will be hard as everyone say that's a man who go home to enter the gym and work out
Diego Torres today wrote about his knee condition & said Valdano warned that all those weight workouts will eventually add pressure to his knees & will crumble and I think he is at this stage.. he doesn't want to miss a single game or a single big occasion which makes him push hard to be fit (by players standards not his ) so he can jog , pass but he is not the same & it will affect him
He should go away from football for those 3-4 weeks till pre-season I hope Carlo & Perez speak to him as the later is fuming that he played the 3 games already

Its ridiculous to suggest that he will decline already, he will get a good rest now, and very few are as dedicated as him. He could be in prime condition when the season begins for all we know. It would be interesting to see him another role when his speed and physique declines, but i dont believe that will really happen this season. I think his passing ability is class, but his head says shoot, dont know if he will change in that regard.

He's gotten a lack of abuse over on Redcafe with people saying he should have scored 3-4 goals and put them through, people saying he's not captain material etc.

A bit harsh perhaps as I think Portugal as a team have not been good enough, Ronaldo should have been better but blaming it all on him is unfair.

This isn't true at all, the likes of Oscar have been playing great. Just because someone scores the goals doesn't mean they carry the team. Thiago Silva is doing a fine job keeping a sloppy defence together too. Neymar is certainly the star player though.

Would you be saying the same thing if it had been Alexis?

Ronaldos passing is not underrated. Jesus. Lol

He's an average passer who can produce a good moment here and there. Nothing more.

Actually looking again I wouldn't call him unlucky, he should have scored 3 of those chances. He was poor in front of goal today.

As for Sanchez I don't hide the fact that I dislike the Barca version.
