Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

OK. So I take it you saw the videos I posted, incl. the Gary Neville one?

Forget about whether Ronaldo went down or not. Do you think that's a penalty? Are defenders allowed to hit players' feet/legs from behind? Didn't Masch get a red card in the first game for that?

That was not a foul. Masch's and this look similar, but the elche player was running, cr was not. That's a dive, the contact wasn't enough to make him fall.

What about this one then? Neymar was going at the same speed as Ronaldo and it's the slightest of contacts. Did Madrid get robbed here? Neymar was way more theatrical than Ronaldo too.

Yes, that was a blatant dive. Just like Cristiano's.

When you say 'dive', do you incorporate a cheating element to it? Because to me, neither Neymar nor Ronaldo cheated there. You can call it dive all you want and I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as you don't portray it as cheating. They both got fouled so they can either choose to go down to bring it to the ref's attention or stay up and risk not getting a deserved penalty.

Same speed? Neymar was running. cr stopped to dominate the ball, than took a step forward, felt the contact and fell. Watch the video you posted again. cr was not running when he felt the contact.

There was no foul in either play. Both plays have minimal contact that does not hinder the players advance. The player's themselves choose to take the easy way out and dive for a better chance at a positive outcome.

It is cheating. It is trying to deceive by overplaying slight contact or no contact at all. In both cases the contact is nowhere near enough to impede or hinder the player's progress, but the player overplays it with dramatic effect to sell the deception.

I think that no one should touch Ronaldo when he's inside the box. Sure, you can **** Messi, grab him by his chin and throw on the ground....but he's just a little Hobbit. Who cares.
Who ever wants to justify Ronaldos diving is not loving football, because that was not football but an act. Just saw the video of the game. Bale scored, plastic twat didn't want to celebrate. But when he scores...oh boy!
It's the best orgasm face expression, like frikin sun exploded. I hate him without knowing him and I'm fine with it. He is great footballer, but the twat he is.

In my opinion both Ronaldo and Neymar cheated, that's where we disagree.

Both Ronaldo and Neymar are legit penalties and cheeky dives at the same time. It isn't said in the rules book that if a player can continue the action after he's being fouled, the foul becomes unpunishable. Both sold the foul (nice line @NotInHere), but the foul was there to sell. Not very ethical, but within the rules I guess.

It's only a dive when Ronaldo or Bale does it

Hilarious haw haw.

Onto the discussion. Neymar is running at high speed while cr is going much slower. Only the players themselves will know if they deserved the penalty or not.

Ronaldo will always be remembered as a diver, as will Neymar unless he cuts it out. It's poor sportsmanship but its pretty natural in the game these days.

Who's talking about Marcelo?
I am, watch the video.

Anyway you need to calm down

That's cute, we're on the internet...

and watch this in its entirety.

Make me :neymar: **edit: oh wow you didn't, Young against Villa? LOOOOOL!! Young is a renowned filthy diver especially against his former team, and you're going to use Neville? Terrible, the guy is a hack with an obvious bias towards Man U. Young was "LOOKING" for the penalty, watch it, Clark comes in, Young changes direction, as Clark is bringing his left leg out of the way Young steps blatantly towards it, virtually stepping on Clark's foot to "MAKE CONTACT", Clark pulls away as you can see but Young goes flying like the dirty cheater he is. YOU have no foot to stand on mate, you're just proving to us all more and more you don't know football and condone this behaviour and "make the most of it" mentality that is killing football and repels so many fans. The reputation of Ronaldo & Young as divers is clear as night & day, hahaha playing it in the bg and Neville is choking hard! "Penalty? Yes. Dived? Yes. That's cheating then. INSERT CHOKE & STUTTER. Yeah Neymar is becoming renowed too and if he's not careful he will too be called a diver by the masses and not just those spiteful few.**

Looks very much like you're on your own footyfan. Everyone has already spoken for me so I only echo their words as they highlight very good points that you just cannot dispute.

Diving is cheating at the end of the day and that's a fact.
