I think its because Ronaldo isnt viewed as a diver, he is seen as a guy who was a diver but now isnt yet sometimes makes the most out of an opponent making contact.
Guys like Busi,Neymar are considered pure divers.
I dont know why its perceived to be like this but its the way it is.

It's pretty obvious. Two of the largest demographics that follow the Barca-Madrid dynamic are those in Spain and younger fans all over the globe connected by social media. In Spain, Madrid have a dominant hold over media outlets and therefore have more influence on the 'mob mentality' domestically, illustrating Barca players as divers in many articles or editions.

For the 'younger fans' group, all it takes is one Busi 'peek a boo' meme or a picture of Neymar in the air for an opinion to catch like wildfire all over twitter/facebook/etc. that creates a permanent perception of Barca=divers. Those people hardly even follow football and seek enjoyment more from video games or media and don't form opinions based on watching but rather what the consensus is, incorrectly magnifying the notion. In that world there's a constant cycle from 'popular idea'->'absolute truth'. It's also why guys like Zidane have become infallible and why goal tallies define Ballon D'or races.

I REALLY don't get it. His second goal yesterday showed his talent. Was RVN ever criticised for being a WC penalty taker? Or Henry? Or Alan Shearer?

Who is criticising him for scoring them??? Christ the point is that Madrid shouldn't be getting this many penalties.

People say the same about Neymar and his outlandish diving sometimes. Its a part of football and players like Ney and CR will always take advantage of it.

This has just gone way over your head. Yes Neymar dives, So do Madrid players, but they get penalties and frees that we don't get. Ronaldo gets penalties handed to him every single week in Spain, hence why 25% of his goals are penalties.

I am impressed by this post. I also agree 100%. Most of the so-called football fans, especially on internet forums seem to get their opinions and "knowledge" from media hype and video games. I doubt they ever watch a football match from start to finish.

that only happens when you score a goal that influences the overall game, i seriously doubt everyone will be celebrating Ronaldos empty stats if they RM dont win the game.

Great post. Been thinking this for ages but never knew how to put it into words. Generally most young football fans have a favourite between Barca and Real but what you've also got to remember is a massive population of fans around the world are Man Utd fans. This 90% of the time puts them into the "Real Madrid fan" category for obvious reasons.. Ronaldo and us beating them in two CL finals etc.. That's another reason why you find on lots of football forums, websites and Facebook so many Madrid fans and hate towards Barca.

Anyone he's on 70 now, technically 71 if you count his qualifying goal. He needs just 1 more to match Raul while Messi needs 2, and to make things worse Madrid play on the 4th of November while we go to Amsterdam on the 5th. It will take a miracle to stop him from scoring vs Liverpool.
