He couldn't help Portugal ? He's the sole reason that Portugal got to the World Cup and that they are even considered strong . He's the all-time best scorer with 23 goals scored either in qualifiers or at the tournament proper. He scored 4 goals in 2 games vs Sweden and got them to World Cup. Not to mention that he assisted for the goal in 90+ that gave Portugal a glimmer of hope for passing the groups.

Neither did all the 17 goals happen in 2014 , but it's seems to be main argument for him having to win the Ballon d'or. I see people now on other football sites who say CR7 is better than Ronaldo because he is scoring more goals. It's all about goals goals and guess what ? some more goals. Don't get me wrong ,CR7 is a world class player even more than WC for being consistent for so many years. But to compare him to legends like Ronaldo , Maradona etc.. because he has more goals , is just ridiculous. He will definitely enter the history books as one of the best strikers in the football world.
