Pistolero for Ballon.
Ronaldo is now a one-dimensional player when in his early days at Real and his prime UTD days, he was two-dimensional. His ability to beat two, three players off the dribble back then was impressive, as were the screamers he'd hit from like 25-30 out as a winger was for me why he deserved to considered the best in the world.
He is not that kind of player anymore and outside of his scoring record, he is rather ordinary. He's virtually a striker now yet he really isn't all that great at being a central striker. Unless it's in the air or his team can dominate possession for him, Cristiano struggles and especially with how well Atleti squeeze out space, they might be in for a rude awakening here.
He has the heart of a champion and while Real certainly rode their luck in CL and Wolfsburg's D was pretty laughable in that 2nd leg, he finds ways to score and keep Real going when they don't have anything looking good so you gotta respect him for that. Believe it or not, that's the only thing I think he's better than Messi is (at times) and that's putting the team on you're back when they are playing shit. Not saying Messi doesn't do that but at times, Messi lulls down when we aren't playing well when we need him to step up and unless Cristina is pissy about something, he will drag Real kicking and screaming at times to victories.
But again, overall, let someone break the Messi-Ronaldo Ballon dichotomy and give it to a worthy candidate in Suarez. He's earned it this year.
