Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

He might have skin injury since in the latest months he looks like he upped the level of his personal tanning bed, if he tries a bit more, he might start missing games because of skin melanoma treatment.

He scored the winning goals vs Roma and really got us through Wolfsburg. He was injured vs City and he was shit in the final. But at least he converted that penalty.
I'm really thankful to Ronaldo because he saved our ass plenty of times. He did the same vs Schalke. He saved us from 2 super early embarrassing UCL exits and I appreciate that. He's one of the best ever althought he's declined a lot and is now a shadow of his former self. His pace, dribbling, free kicks, hell, even his headers were missing this season.
I think now is the best time to sell him. He just won another Champions League and he should leave on a high note. If he renews until 2020 it'll be another Casillas fiasco. Like cmon, Imagine how declined he'll be when he's 35-36? A winger who can't dribble, run really fast or cross is useless. And you can't teach new tricks to an old horse so he can't be a CF/ST. "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". In this case it's just leave instead of die.
He was faithful to RM. He didn't ask for many wage bumps and he didn't make too much drama. It got serious only once,in like 2014. Only 1 La Ligaa but that's because La Masia had their best generation that they will ever have. Xavi,Messi,Iniesta and combine that with Alves and Puyol. Barcelona will NEVER have a stronger side. You can buy Neymars,Suarez's,Bale's,Lewandowski's etc. But no money can buy you the spine of Xavi,Iniesta and Messi. Combine 2 of the best middlefielders ever with one of 2 best forwards of this generation and you have yourself a side to beat.
It'll be hard replacing Ronaldo but I'd rather have a weaker side than have the whole fanbase(including me) turn on a legend like Ronaldo.
It's a new Era. Xavi is gone and Iniesta is 32. He has 1-2 years left at top-level(or close to it). It's time for new(albeit inferior) players to take the main role. The Messi-Ronaldo era is over.
Ronaldo will likely win this Ballon d'Or and it should be his last. Messi and Ronaldo had the duopol(y) of this award for long enough.

Is he really the second best? Sure he scores alot of goals but I think Iniesta and Xavi are/were better players, but goals win games so I don't know but I think Modric is Reals most important player.

I think he meant forwards only. If you consider every role then Imo Maldini is better than both Ronaldo and Messi.

Modric might be Real's most important player right now but Ronaldo has been in the top 3 players for 10 years now. I'm the biggest Xavi fanboy but I really don't think he's better than Cristiano, let alone Iniesta being better.

Fairly certain nobody outside a few Barcelona fans will agree with you there.

No, I was not just talking about forwards, I was talking overall players. And Maldini is definitely not better than Messi, I dunno about Ronaldo.

Well I don't think you should compare players from such different roles, especially wingers to centrebacks..

I genuinely think this guy is the most overrated Footballer of all time. Doesn't even belong in the conversation with the true greats. Doesn't belong in the same paragraph as Messi. Honestly, he's everything that's wrong with modern Football; people don't watch matches and form their own opinions, they see the topless celebration pictures and "Ronaldo breaks ANOTHER record" or "Ronaldo the hero" and they eat up everything they are spoon fed in the media. I hate that Football is being Americanised and is turning into another Sport where all anyone cares about is stats. Iniesta should be worshipped by kids the world over, not this guy. I can't believe he has so many fans, he is one of the most unrelatable men I have ever seen. I guess that's just the modern obsession with celebrity, he's the Kim Kardashian of Football.

There's been plenty of severely overrated players, so in that context he's not, but when you consider the actual level he's been rated at in the last few years, in that context he is. A lot of it has to do with the focus switching to goals alone, which is absurd, but most of it has to do with the media blowing him out of proportion to generate a non-existent rivalry with Messi, because that's what sells copies and gets you views. The BdO is that exact thing. It's a lot like presidential elections, really. Even if a huge margin exists between two candidates, it's not in the media's interest to admit that, because the public's involvement will diminish.

Oh and kudos on the Kim Kardashian of football comment. Although I personally see him more as the Kanye West / Donald Trump of football.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. When you actually watch him play, and then take into account that he is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time... it's simply absurd. Makes me sick.
