Yes I remember that well. IIRC the match finished 0-0 but he had an incredible shot that hit the post, as you say. That was in 2010 World Cup.

CR's - he's 2m in front of goal, with a clear view, no one is really marking him, ball comes at him at way lower speed, he hits the ball from the side

Yes, Rivaldo's is a much better goal, both occasion and ability wise. I don't think anyone has denied that really. Ronaldo's bicycle kick the other night is one of the less impressive ones ever scored, still decent though.
