I think Alves would 100% start for us in a 3-4-3 as the wide mid. More defensive cover for him and Alves' passing/linkup with Messi is invaluable to transitioning forward. I really miss him, I saw that he apparently didn't celebrate any of the goals.

Had Alves played for us in last night game, Lucho would have gone for 4-3-3 n it d have been something like:

Stegen
Alves-Pique-Umtiti-Alba
Masche
Messi-Rakitic
Roberto-Suarez-Neymar

And no, Alves wouldn't have looked like shit like u said, our squad d ve had more stability (sticking with 4-3-3), no switching back n forth between 3-4-3 n 4-3-3, no outrageous experimental formation from Lucho! I miss him so bad!

He did a great job of completely nullifying neymar. Full marks to him for that.

But he did have some brainfarts. Had iniesta scored that the whole goal was all on him.

If Alves was still here, Messi would probably still be playing RW. Masch cannot play DM for Barça either, that should be clear.

I was referring to last night match in which Busquet was suspended, so...just no choice! About Messi, maybe, but there d be chances that he d drop deep into the middle area anyway, to compensate for our incompetent midfield!

There were other choices. Rakitic plays better than Masch there, and so does Roberto. Even Gomes did better last night.
