yup i love loyalty Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester United have alot of players which are/were loyal, massive respect to him, i'd like to think if i was a footballer i'd be a one club man.

Shame loyalty is so rare these days, everybody chases the $$

Well, say what you will but Silva did Valencia a bigger favor by jumping ships than staying on board, he went onto winning the EPL as a result too. Sure he is Canarian Asian or some mix but him moving away was the best for debt ridden Valencia.

Moving abroad is not a sign of lack of loyalty, if you willingly betray your team and go to their rivals then yes I would agree. Gerrard for instance won the CL with Liverpool, a greater achievement than anything else he would have won with another club but maybe without him and his influence Liverpool would have won the league (yes, I am suggesting that Gerrard has been a very good reason why Liverpool suck in the league). But in the end Gerrard was captain of Liverpool.

Although Daniel de Rossi came very close to winning the league until they met Sampdoria, so had he won it there and then he would have cemented his legend. I just wanted to see him come through as an all time great midfielder. In my opinion he never reached his potential.

Can you blame them? I think not, most aspiring pro footballers sacrifice their education for a potential professional career. If they finally make it, they probably have 10-12 good years where they have to earn enough money for the rest of their lives, so of course they chase the $$

I mean its easy to be sentimental and romanticize football at home in front of the television

I don't understand this whole "have to earn enough for the rest of their lives" thing. If you're good enough you'll get paid more than enough to live comfortably, no need to chase more money if you're already making a few million per year. Sure eventually you'll have to stop buying Ferraris and living in mansions but that kind of pay is still enough to live the rest of your life fairly comfortably and provide for your family. Personally I'd rather make 2-3m a year playing at a club I love than 10m a year at some club I don't care about. I mean damn, "normal" people would kill to make that much in their lifetime, let alone in one year. Okay, maybe I'd feel differently if I was actually in that situation but I'd like to think I wouldn't.

De Rossi specifically, Roma pays him I believe around 5m a year.

AS Roma ace Daniele de Rossi knows he's a target for Premier League clubs.

De Rossi could put himself in the shop window on Sunday for Italy against England in their Euro2012 quarterfinal.

The midfielder has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United in past and said: "I have received many offers from English football. And I must say that I feel attraction for it.

"I like English football very much. I think now it's probably more interesting than Italian football.

"There are lots of outstanding and talented players, as is the case for Spain as well."
