David De Gea

I'm like your stalker at the minute liking all your posts, but again I agree with this. Daft not to play DDG tomorrow because even at 50% he's still our best 'keeper. That said, I'd love to see Johnstone play now we know De Gea won't, he's looked the real deal preseason and had a very good loan last time around. Won't happen though with Romero being LVG's new toy who he seems to really like for some reason.
How much do you think we'll get for him now? We should just force him to stay and play and kiss goodbye to measly £25 million they are offering. Losing the fee wouldn't be an issue for club our size and I'm certain that he's going to do well once the window closes and the prospect of the move disappears. Players who want to move sulk because they want to move in the next window but De Gea is out of contract in next window so it wouldn't make much sense to sulk and ruin his relationship with the fans and his team-mates.

You don't realize how persuasive can come women be to get what they want. His GF want him in Madrid, period, so I believe he's now thinking about other things than fans and teammates...

He's already persuaded to move to madrid but there's nothing he can do once the window closes and he's stuck with us..I don't think he can afford to sit on the sidelines for an entire season and risk missing out on the Euros.

This might be weird coming from a Hannover-fan myself, but in case DDG is leaving why shouldnt United go for Zieler?
He is a United youth product after all, counts as home-grown, is still realtively young for a gk with just 25 and is the third german nationalkeeper as of yet (which is quite a thing) . Furthermore he wont cost a lot, like 8-10m and is already comfortable with United and knows the older teammates.
I count Leno as better than him, but Zieler comes with tons of advantages and has an error-count that low that it could make many famous goalkeepers jealous. He has played almost 200 matches in the league straight, never suspended, never injured, never dropped, unconstested league record. He doesnt make the same spectacular saves that DDG or his german gk-collegues do, but unlike them he also never lets one in that should have been saveable and is a solid reliability.

This way United can fill a spot in the squad with a homegrown player that is not just a squadfiller to match the rule, throw one of the unused homegrown players out and can get another foreign non-homegrown fieldplayer in addition to their squad without endangering the homegrown-rule. Furthermore it probably pleases many United fans to see a youth player returning to their squad who made it realtively far, as the last generations of their youth werent exactly spectacular. Kinda adds a little identity back.

If I was LVG I would defo keep this idea in the back of my head.
As for ourself, loosing him would be ok, because good gks kinda grow on trees in germany.

So, is he in Madrid yet? That being said, Romero did rather well yesterday, not a long term solution though I don't think.

Real have obviously offered him a massive signing on fee to wait it out a year and go to them for free next summer. van Gaal is stubborn enough to have him warming the bench all season whilst Romero fumbles about as well.

De Gea will get back in the team by September if he is still here. Maybe earlier if it looks like Madrid are definitely not going to pay the asking fee.

Romero is no run-of-the-mill keeper for De Gea to get his place back even though he's behaving like a spoiled brat though

I'm sorry but if De Gea is at Man Utd after 1st September then quite frankly Man Utd are not good enough to keep him on the bench - no matter his mental state. As their top 4 place - even with all their new players - would be at a greater risk with him not in the team. I'm sure the Utd fans on here would agree.

De Gea should sit on the bench for a year, and knowing Van Gaal, it is not that impossible to happen. Plus, Romero is a good keeper.

What would that achieve? United might as well sell him now if they're not going to use him, rather than bench him and then lose him from nothing next summer.

Apparently he was asked by United's goalkeeping coach if he wanted to play and he vehemently said no. Baffling really, he couldn't be more ungrateful, especially after what Ferguson went trough after sticking by him in the first six months where he looked a shaky mess.

Update: Now there's reports coming out saying De Gea said he did want to play. Not sure what to believe to be honest, Van Gaal has got previous when he said Valdes refused to play for the U21s when he said he didn't and we all know De Gea is desperate to leave Manchester...

Van Gaal should make him be a ball boy or play with the youth for a year, ban him from trainings as well.

Ungrateful players who betray their clubs by trying to blackmail them into selling them need to be punished. Its what should ahve happened with Lewandowski and should happen now.
