Can my user name be changed to Dave Stays for this year? Mods?
Haha! Loving all the obviously seething Madrid fans (not that you'll admit it, of course). You didn't want to pay the asking price but weren't worried as you'd definitely be getting him for free next year....oh, wait...ooops!
Dont you think its very odd how he suddenly changed his mind all of the sudden? I mean what happened, he clearly wanted to go home to sunny Madrid, live with his gf, and play for a currently better team. Suddenly he is like, "nah, screw that, i think i will stay in United for the rest of my life instead", seems logical..... Anyway, im happy with Navas, im not too worried.
Anyway, we payed up, but "someone" screwed up the deal.
Changed his mind when he realised what a massive twonk Flo is and what a joke of a circus that club is.
It's not a huge leap to conclude that he signed the new contract because he(and mendes) felt betrayed by real. Do you think he would've signed a new contract with us if we were the ones who deliberately screwed up?We dont really know who fecked up this transfer or not, so you cant be sure this is entirely one sides fault or the other, neither can ddg. The club is a circus, absolutely, has been for a long time. But United is also a circus these days, what with all the desperate transfer windows lately. Anyway, i dont think he was actually that keen on leaving in the first place, if he wouldnt wait one single season for his transfer. Prob because he is from Atletico Madrid, so im fine with Navas doing the job.

Don't really think it matters who screwed up. He had his contract with Madrid all signed up and if not for administrative glitches, he would be a Madrid player right now. Him signing a new contract is the most logical thing. He can't afford to lose out a year, and with LvG, United have a manager who is mad enough to have made him sit in the stands for the season. We'll revisit this story again next season, I'm sure of it and it will most probably end with him joining Real, but we'll get the services of one of the best goalkeepers in the world for another season now that the cloud of uncertainty over his future has lifted, and we'll get adequately compensated by Real Madrid . De Gea will get a fair crack at the number one spot for the national team, and Real will probably get their man next season. We should have sufficient time to tap up Lloris, Oblak or Leno in the meantime.

Negative - If DDG wanted to join us he would simply wait out his contract, there is no reason for him to sign a contract if he wanted to leave. So he stays.

If he waited out his contract, LVG would have benched him the entire season and Del Bosque would not have selected him in the Spain Squad for the Euro 16.
Common, unless Iker gets a serious injury we both know he will be the starter for Spain in this tournament. He is still at a decent level, and while ddg is better than him currently, Bosque likes to play it safe, he has his favorites.
Players transfer between teams all the time. They rarely risk losing out on a season of competitive football and a major competition, as would have been the case for Dave. Him chosing to not having potentially a year of his career wasted doesn't mean he still doesn't mean to move. Anyhow, it's all just speculation at the moment, I'll just enjoy him while we have him safe in the knowledge that we'll get a fair sum for him now if he leaves.
Squad man, squad. Del Bosque said he won't select him in the squad of 23 players or whatever the number is if he doesn't play. No player want to miss a tournament.
