I was so sad to see him celebrate his goal against us short after he went to Atletico.

Exactly. If he wants to treat us as any other club, and let the past be the past, we should of course treat him like any other opponent too. It's only logical.

Our fan base unfortunately is notorious for being rather hypocritical. And sadly it's even seen on this board.

This mindset that a player cannot celebrate a goal he scores against us in an important match (Not to mention that scoring against Barcelona is no small feat) is just hypocritical... Yesterday Neymar was diving all over the place, but when it's done to us, we want to scream murder...

Anyhow, no reason for this thread to be negative. Villa gave his all for us, scored lots of goals, and played an important part in us winning the double in 2011... He deserves respect regardless of anything.

Right, let me get this straight. He can celebrate a goal against us, but we can't boo him when he's wasting time walking off the pitch in a crucial ChL tie where we're trailing 1-0? What kind of message would it send our players, if past heroes were suddenly more important than rallying behind the current team?

Also, have you even been to the Neymar thread? If so, I'm sure you'd see the posts criticizing him heavily for his antics. When that's said, though, I don't really see the relevance between the two cases.

No need to overreact after tonight's result. Villa has been mediocre at best this season and hasn't even been near the level required to play at Barça after signing Neymar. Especially not with the wages he had.

He's not the Villa of old, that's for sure. But he's still better than Pedro and Alexis IMO.
