You gotta love such strikers! Just as henry had his way of placing the ball into the corner of the net with a certain ankle, so did Villa. You can compare it to pressing the special shoot button on Fifa :) (goal against RM in the super copa). Legend, indeed!

Why did we let him go in the first place? We totally have room for him, a bench player who can be decisive in certain games.

Was it his wage that was the problem? We couldn't renegotiate it, could we?

I had argued that we should have kept him because I thought he gave us a lot of options with different rotations.

But he was on high wages and I think he wanted to play more.

Shame really because I think we could have found a way to work it out but this front office doesn't have a clue it seems.

Well the good thing is MLS players can still get called to Big National teams, but David isn't getting younger and I imagine that the next coach for Spain will want to create a mostly youthful side with only 2-3 veterans if even that (look at current Brasil)

If Del Bosque remains (Which I fear he will), he'll still continue to pick his overrated favorite players from Real Madrid...

Only in his world does Xavi deserve to get benched, yet Alonso can remain out there slowing down the play and embarrassing the team.

Del Bosque's decisions are weird and deluded at times to say the least, but he certainly doesn't favour Real Madrid players.

Will mis El Guaje :tears: Such swag and style in scoring. Even the last goal he scored for the country was special. I'll forever remember him for two occasions - that wonder goal in WC2010 and his back hill pass for Messi' goal in 2010-'11. Actually, make that 3 - who can forget his 360 with the ball and finally passing to Messi for the goal.

Will never forget his goal in the 2011 final and in 2010 against Chile. Still wish he played one more season in La Liga.

Goodbye El Guaje. You will forever be one of us.

 Villa Maravilla! Guaje is an undisputed legend for La Roja and one of the most passionate player's I've seen. No one can forget what he's done for Barcelona and Spain over the years. Hope he enjoys retirement life in the MLS.
