I think I've read Sport mentioning it. Wouldn't surprise me He's considered one of Fluminense's best prospects and even some called him the next "Thiago Silva".

I think if we were to go for him he would probably cost at least 8-12 Million but I'm not sure on that. He's the same age as Lemos, but at the moment in time I rate Lemos higher.

I didn't watch either of them enoug, watched Marlon couple of times in thee U-20 Wc and was impressed and never watched Lemos..
But after passing on matching Gerson offer hen we thought signing him was a done deal I can't help but feel Marlon would never play here

The three players we had First option on were Kenedy,Gerson and Marlon.

But like you said considering we didn't bother upping our bid to match roma's in regards to Gerson I don't think we will consider buying him. We could've gotten Kenedy for a mere 10? Million euros last year as well but we let Chelsea have him.

Good move, but he can sign for us and request us to loan him out to them too, for a couple of seasons or so.... but perhaps Ajax aren't interested in that.

I think a club like Ajax (who is known as selling club) prefer to buy him so they can sell him for 15-20M (or even more) in 2-3 years if he's really as good as they think he can be. Even if not they can probably sell him for lower fee and at least recuperate those 3-4M they'll pay for him.

And player himself is probably also not interested in loan which is understandable. Most players prefer longterm security and don't want to be in doubt every summer where they'll play next season. It's his career and if he thinks Ajax is the best club for him to develop we can't do anything about that. We tried our best, reach a deal with his club, he just wasn't interested to come here. Move along, there are other talents out there who will possibly be interested in that sign and loan idea or maybe even willing to play for Barça B for a season or two.

He also says Barca & Atletico Nacional had an agreement, but Sanchez already promised Overmars he would join Ajax.

Well It's probably good for his Development if he went there anyway, I mean yeah we offered him a chance at the first team but he was likely worried he wouldn't get enough game time here.

Well in this case in regards to Davison, I don't think a "Spot" on the main team means much to him at this moment in time.

If he did accept our offer, he would likely be dead last in the pecking order behind guys like Mathieu,Umtiti and possibly Verm (If He's not being sold). Ajax offered him a place on the team with much game time as he needs. He's 20 and should be out there playing and instead of rotting on the bench or even in the stands at this point in time.

The last couple of years we really stepped up our scouting in regards to finding these South American Gems, I mean sure we will have duds like Robert, but Davison is probably on a long list of Young CBs we are watching in south america.

Sure, but we can scout all we want, if these players are all thinking like this guy they will turn us down unless we make some room for them. I guess we will just have to buy them from other European clubs at a much higher price later then. Sigh.

Umtiti and Mina are stoppers! Pique is our playmaker central defender and is 30years old! Lemos is a beast in terms of playmaking and add somthing in atacking play and could be our Ramos and Piques succesor.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way too now. I like both but Lemos displays a disturbing propensity for positional errors.

As could Sanchez to be fair. He has better pass completion stats than Lemos, is better in the air, has scored just as many goals this season, looks faster, and is a year younger. He does play in the Eredivisie though, which is a lower level than la liga of course. But both players could have big futures.
