i don't see how signing alba (for about 10 million euros) excludes us from the opportunity of buying another cb..

Wikipedia Italy: Alves 1.69m, Alba 1.64m.
But anyway the meaning does not change: average hight too low. One think is Alves+Puyol+Piqué+Abidal (dream), TOTALLY other think Alves+Mascherano+Piqué(Puyol)+Alba.
And as said, we dont have strikers or midfielders who can help with their height.

We already have Adriano, we dont need Alba.

it's really too bad rosell fucked up with chygrinsky. never should've sold him back. not only did we lose money but there's our height and strength right there.

alba's coming, it's almost a certainty and he'll be a good fit for the club. promote muniesa, bartra and montoya and the defense starts to look a little better. i'd be happy with another cb but who are you going to get who'll be happy playing behind pique, puyol and masche?

We need at least 4 players > 185 cm on the pitch to cover dangerous spots in the box so as not to be as liable as we have been this season in the corner kicks and cross overs .

another thing is Please stay away from English, Italian or German players, They don't fit in our style so easily let aside being over priced

We definitely don't need Javi Martinez either, we have Busi and Mascherano

Let's hunt for CF(tall one) as back up for Villa, a reasonable CB and more defensive LB then we should be good for another 3 CL and 4 Liga cups

We definitely need a CB. Pique is not 100%, Puyol is 34, and Mascherano - well he's a beast, but still not 100% against the top teams.

Ideal choice for me is T.Silva - best CB in the world in my opinion, fast as fuck, great on the ball, and great in the air. Though he is 27 and Milan wouldn't want to sell. I'd take him for 35m-40m though.

If not him, then Hummels or J.Martinez. Both amazing players as well, both great on the ball and in the air though not as fast as Silva. Despite the rumours, we probably wouldn't be able to get Martinez though but Hummels for 25m I think is doable.


We also 100% need a LB. Abidal unfortunately won't ever play again, Adriano is good but is definitely no Abi.

Ideal choice would be Alaba, but those Munich fuckers won't sell him for anything reasonable (ie, <30m) so... Then there's Alba who I think is great and for c.10m-15m a bargain BUT he is not what we need as Abidal was solid as a rock defensively and Alba just might be too small? Last option is that Porto LB, Pereira who is probably the smartest/best choice for LB but no idea how much Porto would want? I guess if Porto won't sell for around 20m then another option is just get Alba and a CB then we can rotate Puyol @ LB/RB and Alves / Alba.

So, 35m for Thiago Silva and 20m for Pereira means 55m then get that fucker Drogba for free as a back-up striker.

He might have been brought up before. Jan Vertonghen could be a good fit for Barca. He is quite young, he has experience, is a good defender from what I have seen of him and he can get forward and make an impact in attack at times. He is a tall player meaning he is an asset when defending set pieces and on offensive ones. He is also able to play on the left as well as a defensive midfielder. And most of all he has stated that he has played his last game for Ajax and his coach even recommends him to go to Barcelona. He seems like a player who could make a positive impact while not breaking the bank. I'm not 100% sure of how well his passing game is so if he is a good fit is up to other more knowledgeable people to decide.

Just to make it clear, we are connected with David Alaba (Bayern Munich) and Jordi Alba (Valencia). Well to me the first is more capable defensively which is our priority at the moment and also young (19 yrs). But Jordi is very adaptable to the team and knows our system, easier to negotiate with compared to Bayern, and plays in La Liga. So up til now, from all the LB's we were reported to have interest in, Jordi Alba is the best one for us.

Why? He is without a doubt one of the best CBs in the world (if not the best) and is also perfectly suited to Barcelona's game. He is excellent defensively, great in the air and amazingly fast. In fact his speed would be so valuable when playing a 3 man back line.

To say 35m is too much just because he is a defender is purely idiotic, especially in this current market. Have you seen what sort of players go for that!? Carrol, Aguero (+3m), Torres (+15m), Coentrao, Fabregas (and that was when we got a 'bargain' because he only wanted us) etc etc.

I'm not saying he is the only suitable defender as Hummels / Martinez are also great options I think, especially considering their age. But saying that a world-class CB who could be playing in our XI for 5+ years is too much for 35m just makes me laugh.

Because he shows real potential and temprament. 19 years ols and scored a beast of a penalty in a high pressure situation (CL Semi) against RM. Does well going forward. Good passes. Hope he comes but I am sure Bayern wont sell.

I want Hummels. Thiago Silva is great but Hummels has the potential to be as good plus he's younger AND would come cheaper. 25 million plus Keita or no deal IMO.
