MD reports suggest Drogba's agent is in touch with Barca . He offered the player to Barca on 1+1 contract basis. No reply from FCB.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT!!!!

don't even think about it. don't even question it. just do it. DO IT!! he can win his first CL title with us next year.

No thanks. The current problem we have is a lack of consistent goalscorers. Pedro and Sanchez are great players but not outright strikers. We need someone who can be swapped in and out with Villa. Drogba could do this but do we really want our two strikers to be 30 plus? I'd rather find a medium to long term solution, i.e. someone between 22-29 years old.

I agree..apart from the fact that I can't stand the man, he scored less then Torres this year, playing more minutes. So people should think about that before saying that we need him because he scores more then Pedro or Alexis. Not to mention the fact that I don't see him as a good influence over the other players.

It's not so much that he would score goals, but he would occupy two central defenders at once, opening up space for other players.
Drogba never was a great goal scorer but still one of the best strikers in the last decade

i think of him as an alves-type twat. you love him when he's on your team and hate him when he's not. but there's no question the guy is a leader and would bring another dimension to this barca squad. and, given his age, he's not going to go around demanding playing time. would be a great option to throw out there to try and push defenders around and get his head onto some of those great cuenca crosses. it's pretty much a no-brainer to me.

As you pointed out hes a twat. I'd rather us not tarnish our reputation by bringing in a diving cheat. Our club already gets a lot of criticism from diving by the likes of Busquets etc, albeit over exaggerated but thats natural because of our dominance in recent years. I understand that his age might work to our benefit, especially if the club intends to bring in Neymar in 2 years time who could then be the long term solution but there are several other players who could provide what he does without all the theatrics.

I'm not sure if I'm on board with a Drogba signing but I think it would be a mistake to conclude he's inadequate based on his stats from last season, let alone with Chelsea...The team doesn't need a 20-30 goal striker...They need a striker with size, strength, speed and ability to score goals in just about any manner possible...They need that striker to open up the pitch when the usual suspects cannot penetrate the parked buses...Plus, he demands attention from defenders...defenders who cannot bully him around like they can Leo, Alexis, Villa et al...A player like Drogba would be a plan B, not this Plan B

Even when talk centers around a RVP, Cavani etc. I just keep thinking, who is going to want to come to play as a 2nd half sub?...It's true I'd rather see the club sign a big striker with skill who can rotate more often but I don't see Drogba as being useless - even if he's an incorrigible diver

Drogba may be a jackass on the pitch, but off the pitch he is a wonderful person: Africa's Greatest Star

FC Barcelona + Drogba + UNICEF = back-to-back CLs

book it.

That's the thing, he's a nutter for a lot of the obvious reasons but he never struck me as a jerk off the pitch - seems to have many friends, particularly from our own team

yeah, exactly... even at the camp nou he went over to messi before the start of the game, talking to him, looked amicable. his theatrics can be kind of annoying but we have our own players who annoy me with that so i don't think that part of his game rules out a transfer.

like someone said above, you sign someone like cavani or el kun or llorente and they are going to want to demand time on the pitch and might cause a stink over it. you bring in a guy like drogba at the tail end of his career and maybe you get a season or two from him while still bleeding in youngsters and adding much needed strength to our attack.

Sign him up!!!

he's class!

he wouldn't have to run too much in this barca team. I can see him getting 30 goals for us in a season.

Messi really admires him too.

although why not just sign............................

Torres has played 700+ more mins than Drogba. Torres might 've scored more goals (7 out of the 11 came against lesser sides - Genk, Leicester, QPR in big wins, 1 inconsequential against Barca), but the Ivorian has proved more clutch over the season - opener at st. james' park, only winner against Stoke, dismantled Valencia, opener against Napoli (h) and Spurs (FA cup semis), winner against barca(CL semis). Torres had plenty of time to prove himself the majority of the season but failed (even during Drogs ACN absence), whilst Drogba even when underperforming came crucial to their campaign.

Those watching him on a regular season 'll know he's cut down on his theatrics. Now he only reserves them for the big games (against napoli and barca at the Bridge for instance :D) I've read Drogba's gamesmanship against Barca (which received such large scale criticism) was a pre-meditated time wasting strategy by Di Matteo. And it makes sense as Drogba for all his theatrics in the past hasn't gone to such incessant lengths of abhorrence he did against us.

And i've never heard about him being a disruptive influence over other players. He was seemingly upset about the ladyboy's constant starts over him, but being a Chelsea legend, and seeing the ineptness of your replacement failing over and over again from the overview of the bench must 've been frustrating (i'd be upset too).

I'm on Team Drogba, like you Irv. But don't bother with any links. Some people 've already made up their minds on him, sadly.

I can only hope if we dont get him, our arch-rivals don't either. He's not just any targetman, he's (at 34) still one of the best targetman in business. And he's got the technical skills to boot. His signing will be worth just to see him troll the hell out of Ramos and Pepe. :D
