He isn't Barcelona Material and he hasn't played much due to the fact. But he can leave here feeling happy that he got to train with the best in the world, even became good friends with a lot of the guys in the squad and obviously the Silver ware and Medals he won with his are a added bonus. I mean sure Technically his CL medal technically won't be recorded in the UCL record books since he didn't get to play a CL match last season But he still has the Medal himself.
Douglas is a good guy over all just Unfortunate he wasn't good enough to play for us. and Like I said above he can leave with his head up high knowing he at one time got to play and won trophies with the best team in the world.
Why would you wish him success? The man was only here because of corrupt money schemes and being the ultimate connections guy. He's like the guy who is completely incompetent and unqualified (Douglass is terrible not even top 5 league material let alone champion league level ) but because he's got connections (Traffic-Barca) he gets some high office job in a big company (Barca) and doesn't do crap(Douglas 2 years of hard benchwarmer duties ) and still gets payed more then plenty of more deserving people( people way better then Douglass who derma of playing for Barca) who just don't have his connections. Do you wish people like that in your life nothing but success because they do exist outside of soccer too. Do you just which people who unjustly get things nothing but success, is unfairness admirable somehow.
He didn't win those trophies anymore than the people on these forums did or anyone else who supports Barca. You have to start or at least be a constant substitute to truly win a trophy in any meaningful way . He can buy and order medals online if he wants to, they are about as valid as his "barca medals" or park district participation medals really.
Soccer training once you get to this level isn't what you think it is. They are really lax and just there to keep you warmed up and sharp. You can look at the practices on youtube its very "chill". You don't really get taught or learn anything in terms of technique, that was supposed to have happened way before you got to barca's first team. So I don't think participating in Barca training improved him or anyone really to an extant that Douglass would require.
He will hold his head up high knowing if people bother to look into him he could become a "Bosman" of soccer corruptness and shady dealings existing at even the biggest clubs.[/QUOTE]
Haha are you serious? Like for real, what would be so horribly wrong in wishing Douglas success? Would it be more appropriate to wish him worst of luck and injuries? Is it all of his fault that people brought him over in order to launder money? Guy got the chance to join Barcelona and earn money so he jumped the ship. Also you cant throw around accusations like that. He and everyone involved in this "money laundering-transfer" is not guilty for anything until proven otherwise in court of law.
Oh, please tell us more about football training on professional level. Might just be me, but coaches always want their players to give max in training. Otherwise, they will earn a spot on the bench in exchange for another player who trained harder. If they are just chilling and relaxing, wouldnt they loose fitness and stamina? And i always thought players learned and became better in terms of pechnique, tactical awareness, short&long passing, finishing etc because they spend hours and hours of doing it during the years. I mean, Messi wasnt exactly good on free kicks some years ago. Did he just wake up one morning and all of a sudden his free kicks just... became better all of a sudden out of nowhere? Do Barcelona have some kind of Matrix-Operator who just plugged in some wires into his neck and loaded some training programs?
I also dont remember him being such a good and precise passer in his early days. Did someone pour some magic powder over him and POOF he became one of the best passers in the world?
I also dont remember Busquets being as good in 08/09 and 09/10 as he is today. I dont know, i always thought that years of hard training with good coaches helped him become the player he is today, but it seems that isnt the case. He mustve been eating lots of eggs in order to become so good.
