Ughh, shitty shitty news...Personally, we've been experiencing several highs & lows recently and was just thinking yesterday about the fragile balance of life...Poor Eric
I thought it was just too good to be true when he had the miraculous recovery he went through...It was the perfect fairytale ending after battling with all the uncertainties...And like life, it just goes on to the next event...even if it's another kick in the gut like this...What a thing for Abidal to have to go through again nevermind his family...Then there's the team and club, I mean there will be a ripple effect
For those who aren't able to see the bigger picture here, a transplant triggers that inevitable countdown to the end of life we all must face...His just starts sooner because he has a ton of potential hurdles going ahead in dealing with a transplant nevermind survival...And survival is extremely variable but ultimately & significantly reduced life expectancy...In practical terms, there exists a chance he could get a transplant and recover to play once again but it's more than a year away...Assuming he can have the surgery soon because a matched liver isn't a certainty...it's not something you can just order and it appears...Survival rates are higher all the time but recovery can be riddled with complications and rejection issues - it can be really sad
I imagine he will retire but perhaps he'll take some time to reflect...I think it would be the smart thing but he's a fighter...Shitty news
