Asked my sis ,who is a doc, about this whole liver transplant and explained the situation for her and she was surprised he could play this efficiently on such high level, such a demanding sport with a malfunctioning liver. Among all kinds of organ transplants , liver transplant is one with mediacore risk and the patient can in many cases return to a mostly normal lifestyle. the survival rate provide a very positive outcome in most cases and the answer to the question that how long will he live after the operation is said in some sources to be around 15 years but my Sis says the length of life cannot be exactly determined really and is very much dependent on various factors and one important factor that is in control of the patient is the person's previous, current and future lifestyle, that in King Erick's case has been and is very healthy so he does have a very big plus in that department.
After having to endure an 8 to 14 hours long operation he'll have to use strong drugs to suppress his immune system to protect the new organ and wait for the body to accept the new liver. if the rejection does not occur, he will have to keep special diet and extra care against all kind of infections. all these procedures will last up to maximum 2 years in most cases, and then the dose of the immunosuppression drugs will drop considerably but he still needs more care than a normal person in that regard. That he can or can not continue playing football is a big question mark and is also dependent on what his doctors conclude from his body's overall respond to the whole procedure but the chance of seeing the warrior on the green pitch again is very small to be totally honest...
Anyway, in front of his health and life every other matter loses color and importance. I'll be praying for him and may the compassionate Allah spreads his merci over him and his family.
I'll be praying the best for him.
