Erling Haaland

PSG will not get close to Mbappe/Neymar level stars when those two leave.

Not saying they will want Barca players but would not be surprised at all if they are after likes of Griezmann/Dembele level.

if they buy early, why not? depends on the circumstances. player and selling team.

we were talking about the coutinho/griezmann rejects as they are nearing their thirties. dembele, if he is healthy, surely would be an option for many teams.

from all the goals he scored in bundesliga and CL, haaland reminds me of CR at real. many goals on the break, good movement and awareness to sniff out any mistakes, headed goals, tap-ins and mainly likes to smash it.

more of a bayern/PL player.

etoo had moments of finesse. haven't seen that in haaland yet. he just likes to smash it.

how is his game against parked buses? any dribbling ability?

I mean, I don't think dribbling really breaks busses. I think it tends to do more of the opposite actually. Usually speed, set pieces and - in most cases - simply luck can open such games. Whereas very technical teams tend to hog onto the ball very often which often results in playing out situations not fast and risky enough before the opponent can reorganize. And then you run into situations where you have the most elegant players imaginable playing handball around the box, but with no meaningful end product. Sometimes you just need a dude, that's direct and takes the risk. Haaland does that.

Was asking about his dribbling ability in general. Not in relation to breaking up buses.

Oh okay, well his dribbling is definitely the least exciting thing about him. He gets around that by doing runs that leave him with little to no opposition to dribble past. Doesn't really take on players (except at full speed where he is hard to stop), when he gets the ball somewhere in midfield, he'd quickly just lay it off to someone else.

He cant really dribble. His ball-control is nothing special. He has pace, a good first touch and good finishing.

In all honesty he would fit Real Madrid or Bayern very well.

He's a 40 goal a season striker. Which team wouldn't fit that?
Barca isn't gonna play like this for that long anyway. Messi will probably not be around anymore by the time Haaland would come and how many other frequent scorers do you currently have?

seems like it. no barca DNA boys :(

Like Etoo or Suarez? Nothing to do with "Barca DNA", but its not completely unreasonable to be on the edge about Haalands ability to adjust to a dominant team. Not that there are any other exciting strikers around at the moment though.

True. Only Mbappe and Haaland are on this level from the current youth players. Maybe Werner in Bundesleague.

Lucky we're not a dominant team then

our best strikers over the last 15 years have been eto'o, villa and suarez. all of them had very good link-up play and even if they were not supremely gifted in the technical department, they were ahead of current haaland. we tried the tall striker thing and it didn't work out.

we'll have to wait and see. but i'm not too optimistic or hyped on getting haaland.

Haaland's general play outside of goalscoring is majorly underrated on here. Since joining Dortmund his first touch and link up play with Brandt, Sancho and Reyna in particular has improved massively and in recent months has been fantastic. Great little give and goes and tremendous pace too. I'm not one to get too over-excited with younger players but Halaand to me is the real deal, just an absolute machine.

We shouldn't think like that. Zlatan didn't work so no tall striker will never work. In the end we need to move on from playing just one style. I want Barca which could offer more tactical flexibility. We need to come up with some new ideas. Fresh things.

He plays like young version of Juve Ronaldo. If you guys are expecting some sort of finesse, dribble around the defence type of player, you guys are going to be dissappointed. His strength lies in his incredible positioning and finishing.
