Ernesto Valverde - V1

Zidane played away at worst team in league, in a league they have given up on and with a tougher game a day earlier than Barca.

Joke to compare Barca to that situation.

Look at other top teams - some who are further ahead in their leagues like City and they played their strongest sides.

So did Bayern, so did Juventus.

Bayern play in a weak league where they cruise to the title each season without much fuss, and Juve is in a close title fight with Napoli.

More reason to rest players then if such a weak league they win at a canter.

City, Bayern and Juve all played strongest sides.

The Zidane comparison is a terrible one as completely different circumstances.

Not necessarily. If the league is weak then the players are more relaxed because the pressure to win is almost non existent.

Haha so all these excuses come out when it is shown other top teams played their strongest sides..

Why did Pep do it?

Still no reason for Bayern not to rest players today. Especially when most likely have a tougher games than Barca, are further ahead in the league and play in CL a day earlier.

I don't know why Pep did it, but Bayern's games in Bundesliga are like trainings with public. They trash almost all teams. Pep's team looked sharp as hell today, ours looked dead. So maybe he was right to play them, while Valverde was clearly not right since his players looked like they were half-dead. Now, if we would've played super energetic, then yea, Valverde would've been proven right. It would've meant that the players were so sharp that there was no point in resting them. But that's not what happened. Sevilla outplayed us and could have scored us 4 goals in the 2nd half alone with ease. While Barca just looked like a tired team with no spark.

So if the games are so easy why not rest players today when have away game in CL a day earlier than Barca?

Easier games is argument for resting players not against it.

Because if the games are easy then the players aren't exhausted after them.

Resting your best line-up in matches like these rarely happen. Watch Real and Barca field their strongest 11 even when it won't decide much anyways in regards to who wins the league.

Madrid rested many players. How many players did we rest vs Las Palmas? Did we rest 5-6 starters like them? No. And not because our squad is shit compared to theirs, but because Zidane is thinking long term, more than Valverde. It's how he's managed to keep his team in peak physical form in CL all these seasons.

If they can win that easily it is argument for resting players when play away from home a day before Barca do in CL.

Constant search for rules to apply Valverde as an idiot when he did what all the other teams in top leagues did.

Again.... Madrid were against one of worst teams in league, have given up on league and play a day earlier than Barca away to Juve in CL.

Totally different situation.
