Ernesto Valverde - V1

One more thing about this clown.

He isolated and forced the only real leader and commander we had left in this club to leave in January.

A semi-retired Mascherano has more balls than the entire XI of divas that played out there yesterday.

Valverde has done a wonderful job castrating Barca. He's made this team as big of a pussy as he is.

I think yesterday's game also showed how tired our main players are. In December, we could defend against Madrid for one half without concieding (ok, CR150 was in worst form of his life) and now, 4 months later we are shafted by Roma, because overplaying our main players. And despite enormous pressure by Madrid in that game, we still had our chances in the 1st half. In CL, teams only add fuel to the fire. Yes, it doesn't help that some players like Umtiti are in terrible form, but this defeat yesterday is a result of a deadly cocktail of Valverde's pragmatism and arogance of our players.

How to go on?

-Let Valverde do the rest of the season, but start looking for a new manager now and sack him at the end.
-Let Iniesta go to China and buy Auoar as Coutinho sub.
-Buy Griezmann
-Sell Gomes, Vidal, Denis, Rafinha, Deulofeu, Paco
-If we can, buy another WC midfielder
-If Umtiti leaves, use 45 million on De Ligt
-Offer Suarez a new contract with much reduced wages and tell him that he will play 50% or less of the games now.

Something needs to change. The bubble has bursted

I really hope the board is now in a meeting with Valverde right now and is determining his future, which shouldn't last any longer than the end of the season here.

This is exactly what we shouldn't do, regardless of the wage decrease or not...We should not be offering players new contracts who don't deserve them.

This has to stop.

Guys like Rakitic, Saurez, Alba should be fighting for contracts like their lives depend on it not the way it operated right now with the club acting like the success of this team depends on those players.

A lot of us saw this coming. But there were self anointed 'saints' chastising everyone who called out on Valverde, saying "look at the results, you fans are spoilt, etc.". What do the Valverde sympathizers have to say now? Valverde and all his fans can gtfo.

Well, we can't sell half of the first string players. I'd say get 2 midfielders (one WC, one young talent) + Arthur, get Griezmann. Let Iniesta go. We need to sort our midfield first. If we have functioning midfield, games without Messi would be easier.

Suarez is still good for bulliying the likes of Getafe, Leganes. But he can't play the games of the highest level that require pace.

We don't need 2 midfielders. We already signed Coutinho and we are getting Arthur. We can go for one good midfielder but who is available. Valverde integration of new players has been horrible. Mina, Semedo and Dembele should have played much more to give our players rest. Even our midfielders were over played. Suarez bad form did not help, because of his bad form our squad always had to put extra effort even at closing minutes of match. We don't need big changes we just need to change the coach and sign one striker and one midfielder.

I agree. Valverde has 3 fatal flaws. Is a coward, doesn't trust youth and is chaotic in his team selection.

truly is insane how cowardly he turned out to be...I had high hopes when we employed the press and attacked in some of the earlier games of the season like the home game v juve.

Lucho: "If PSG scored 4 against us, we can score 6"

Valverde: "4-1 lead? I've been doing this long enough to know that Roma can make a comeback".

Lucho had a his flaws, but I'd take him and his approach and mentality anyday over the pussy we currently have as a manager.

Lucho was flawed tactically, but was a World Class motivator. Valverde is better tactically, but has failed to realise that we are a scoring team.

lucho was better in both aspects in 2015. we had a rampant run where we beat the likes of city, PSG, atletico, real, juve, bayern in 12 of 14 big games or something crazy like that. Lucho's undoing was when he shifted the focus to neymar taking on creator duties along with messi when neymar was much better off as a run behind the defense scorer. in fact, neymar in the treble season was nearly as lethal as CR7 has recently been v big teams.

with messi and neymar both dropping into midfield, the actual midfield regressed from 2016 to completely nonexistent by end of lucho's last season. doesn't help we got duds like gomes in.
