Ernesto Valverde - V1

LMFAO Valverde fans are just like Trump. Just when you think they can't shock you anymore they come up with another doozy. What next? Leganes is an elite team? Valverde was perfect in his management of the Roma game?

How many of Roma's players can get into our team?

Damn Dzeko is such a beast that Chelsea think he's an upgrade over the mighty Giroud and Morata.

Idk why you drag politics into this. Many agree that trump is doing a damn fine job and should he awarded the Nobel peace prize.

4-4 aggregate is not such a bad result against a team like Roma on paper. Bad luck happens in UCL time to get over it and focus on this season. Players have learnt a valuable lesson about complacency.

People are hating on EV for no reason his response to Messi'a injury has been outstanding and we won some key fixtures. Even if he wins a treble you lot will still not be satisfied.

BBZ the same guy who tried to put down Arthur before he even played, yet now he got so many cheerleaders on his side... I wonder why. :)

Here are some plus and minuses for Valverde in almost a season and a half.

Good points:
- able to get good consistency for league campaigns
- calm and composed
- can get very good performances out of the more mature players
- good enough tactically most of the time, if we don't burden him with the Barca style and let him do his thing
- gentleman-ish, very fair play towards the opponents (maybe even more than needed)
- can keep most players happy and keep a good spirit in the squad

Bad points:
- tendency to not be daring and excessive caution at times, even against sides who can be outplayed by playing a more offensive brand of football
- lack of leadership skills (mostly a quiet guy who will let players express themselves without doing too much to inspire them), seems quite low key in this area.
- lack of creativity in terms of offensive tactics (debatable, but true imo)
- problems with keeping the players fresh, meaning multi-competition management and player rotation is off the mark (this means that he is less likely to have the team fresh and firing on all cilinders as games in multiple competitions start to pile up). Some players don't play enough, some play too much and almost never rest.
- lack of trust shown to Barca B players, not even a single player from Barca B got anything more than garbage minutes under his tenure so far
- has favorite players and because of this he is a bit unfair to other players (this is true for most managers though... sort of an universal flaw of the profession)
- development of young players under him is pretty average. He does not take this role as a priority, meaning he's very results oriented and is not very interested in leaving a mark on this team for the future. Has a lack of long term vision probably caring about the success of the club only while he is here.

Let's just say that's highly debatable and leave it that. One look at his twitter feed tells another story. A story for another day.

Yup against a team in which few/none of whose players would get into our team. The revisionism has already begun. 2-1 against Leganes isn't a bad result too i guess.

Players have learnt a valuable lesson about complacency.

Except fans had been warning about Valverde's antics breeding complacency in the squad all year round. But fanboys like you put your fingers in your ears all year and called others spoilt and crybabies

People are hating on EV for no reason

Squad & youth management and playing philosophy might not matter to the "muh results" bandwagoners like you, but it does to many fans.

To my credit I didn't wait until we are +10 points clear of Real, to make it even more difficult for you to respond ;)

Sure take credit where there's none if it makes you happy. All you are doing is reinforcing the "muh results" stereotype of Valverde fans

We've gone from Roma was a disaster that Valverde shouldn't be judged for, to Roma is entirely the players' fault for being complacent, to Roma was actually the 3rd best team in the tournament and we were just unlucky to face such a dominant team.

The audacity of some people

This has to be a troll post right?

Have all these new users even watched Barca before EV?

One of the better teams sure, but what you say here is a major stretch. Anyway, I presume we can all agree that when a team like Barcelona has 4-1 going into the 2nd game and is elminated by a team like Roma, it's a colossal fuck-up for everyone involved, and especially for the manager.

Don't think it was major stretch considering their performance through the whole tournament. From group stage they were doing great actually.
And yeah, 2nd game was disaster but it wasn't what I commented for. Going out from 1/4 or final can be purely due to draw in this tournament.

gotta secure that 0-0 draw in the Copa right, against a 3rd division team :rofl1:

also bonus pts for bringing on and risking 1 of our only 2 fit CBs on in a meaningless game
