Thank god we have Messi and he is loyal almost to a fault.
Really lost patience with good ole boy Ernie. His biggest flaw is taking away the fear factor we have of being able to score 2-3 goals in rapid succession and kill a match. You can just tell teams fancy a chance against us more than even they did with Lucho. His tenure had its tactical ambivalences as well but at least we had balls back then. By trying to balance this team and make it more defensively rigid, Ernie as a result is putting us under pressure in games with a team that isn't really equipped to handle that style. He seems to think we are like Spain NT 2010 and we can just grind out 1-0, 2-0 games with 70% of the ball. It really is silly to me to see us play like this when we have a better squad that should be performing so much better.
Pique, I'm a big fan of him, but he should be benched for a bit because despite his goal, he clearly is a weak point at the moment and needs to refocus. Once Umtiti is fit, him and Lenglet should have a spell in La Liga for a time, maybe for the remainder of December and have him hopefully refocused for the busy January calendar.
Rakitic is clearly not 100% fit and is exhausted out there, Vidal is starting to find himself within the squad. Rest Rakitic, don't rush him back.
With Arthur injured, we need a quality creative interior. Denis Suarez hasn't show much in the last couple matches but Aleñá showed promise in the CdR match. He has earned some minutes.
Wow, the opponent is really threatening and I have some attacking talent on the bench. Maybe I should make a sub before a goal changes the psychology of a match?
All of these statements are painfully obvious and even a half competent coach could recognize, yet I don't think these thoughts have ever flashed through Ernie's head, based on what he is demonstrating. And sadly, he won't change. He isn't going to really get us to wake up and play the football we should/need to play and we will probably pull another Roma in the CL this season, and this time it could spill into La Liga. So he's either an idiot and needs to be sacked, or he truly is a puppet of Bartomeu (extremely plausible) for him to show off his flashy signings while cashing in on all of the traditions of this club.
Anything less than a semi-final appearance needs to spell the head being rolled of one of the two, ideally both, come summertime.
Hope I'm wrong but I don't think I've ever been so unconvinced of this team after seeing us top our CL group before. Neither have I seen this forum the same, which is indicative of something. Again, hope I'm wrong, but I just don't have the best of feelings right now.

He is ridiculing some Valverde apologists, because that's the excuses they tend to use. Some even go as far as to tell you that Roma is the 3rd best club in the CL last year.

We're going home in R of 16 unless Messi pulls something out of the hat.
So, same as last season.
As it stands now the teams we could play in round 16 (could change by next round) are:
BVB,Ajax,Schalke ,Manu,Roma, one of Lyon/Shakhtar and one of PSG/Napoli/Liverpool. Schalke and Roma officially finished 2nds, BVB could became 1st and Atletico finish 2nd (can't draw them)
Chances are more favorable this year we can end up with a much better draw than last year tbf, even last couple of years team wasn't worn down so early either.
