Ernesto Valverde - V1

Come on guys. 3-0 should give you some confidence. Dont look for reasons why well fail in Anfield. Well score 1 goal and that should be enough.

Given Ev's attitude towards leading a game ( Like Roma last year ) I understand some people ( I am a bit too ) to be afraid but as you said we need only and one goal and its done but to achieve that we need the right mentality to set in when the game is on.

Performance wise tonight we weren't that good but its understandable as Liverpool is one of great teams this season. I'll happily take the result, good job Valverde.

P.s : THREE more games in loading... another TREBLE.

Since 2011, the only two times (hopefully) when we won a CL (2015 and let's hope 2019), we won when we DIDN'T PLAY Barca's way.
In fact, we gave away possession and we didn't attack like crazy.

In all other seasons, when we played like a classical Barca, we lost to counterattacking teams with less possession (Atletico, Atletico, Juve, Roma and almost Psg).
Also interesting, Pep's teams Bayern and City, who play the closest to Barca, lost every single time, mostly to clubs who played with less possession, less naive too attacking high line and with more deadly counters.

Again, we don't need to play THIS way in La Liga and against minor opponents.
But for Champions league and World cups, this is currently the simplest and the most efficient way how to win titles.

Ironically, you have a higher chance to win if you play more cautious instead of playing in a too attacking (and naive way), leaving tons of space for counters behind your back.
Basically a team which allows:
1. less counters
2. and which makes less mistakes around your own box
= win CLs

Again, ironically, Pep's football and classical Barca's style is inviting both:
1. counters against you when you lose a possession with 10 players around the opponent's box
2. and mistakes around you box with forcing players to always keep a possession and never kick the ball upfield far from your box

It only works vs us, If they have quick and fast players. Liverpool has plenty of them, that's why they are tough opponent.

This guy is better than Pep...I wish we had him back in 2009 maybe we could have ended with more trophies in Europe

The reason we lost to Roma wasnt because we defended The lead but because our players didnt accept this approach. The leading players have accepted to listen 100% to EV and as a result we win. Evs biggest mistake last season was that he didnt communicate and make our leaders accept and listen. But in stead of finding guilt, he learned and im sure he since then somehow convinced the players. The players trust and support him Now 100% and as a result we may end up winning The treble.

I hope the fanatic fraction will quiet down a bit when treble is secured and glive The guy a break. He can very well end up being The by far most succesfull manager in history. I also want to go back to a more total footbll approach but that can wait till messi retires in 2-5/6 years.

So far he has been exceptional in his second season. The first season was average just because of one game and this can still happen this season. He just cannot lose the CL and if that happens then he is not good enough.

How was his first season average? We lost 1 game in leauge (The last one because of mina) and 1 to roma but still winning the double. In The start of season fans would have been satified with copa only. I know the last impression has The biggest effect, but still lets be rational. Winning The double was huge. Even if we win treble this year, I rate his first season merits higher - all considered

Under pep Chelsea almost knocked us out and arbitrary decisions led to creation of Uefalona meme. In 2014/2015 we won it convincingly and no one could dispute we deserved it. It will be the same this time if we win it. We won with solid result and a solid defense. I will concede that we had a favourable draw in quarter and 16th finals. Nevertheless...no dubious decisions by ref so far that we had to rely on a la Madrid.

I agree. I think he did really make us believe after losing hope. That is something great, but you cannot just lose like that. It is not acceptable and this is football.

Liverpool played extremely well today but that is not important because they lost 3-0. There was no excuse for him to lose to Roma after winning comfortably, that is, I think, harsh but this is the way it is. You have got to go all the way until the end.

Literarily one game can determine your entire season, just one.

First season was average? People were crying the end of an era and end of Barcelona. People wished Messi went to City for him to enjoy more success in his final years. Ironically team showed they forgot what losing is past two seasons. Neymar crying below his Barca bedsheet.

Roma game was a big disappointment last year. But one couldnt help but wonder what the player themselves were thinking. Maybe Valverd made some questionable decisions but with the calibre of players we have with their experience and quality shouldnt have let it happen and share the blame as well. But that is football. Every so often these type games happen and we speak of a miraculous remontada. That is part of the appeal of football. As a fan of a club you can only hope you are on the winning side when they happen.

I used to defend LE in his last season. Blaming 6-8 players but him. In football, if you have more than 3 players not playing well it is because of the manager, not the players.

I believe Valverde will win the CL and when he does that he is going to be one of the best managers in our history. Let us just wait a little bit, a few games left.

No real Barca fan would want the greatest to leave, and especially to a CL rival?

Not playing well =/= giving a away 4-1 lead. Even if the team realized they were playing *]%{ they could have boosted their morale and put in an extra effort as to prevent giving it away in the dying seconds. We didnt play well when we overturned the deficit with the 6-1 remontada against PSG. Neymar was fighting for us. Messi seemed to have lost the belief in that game as well.
