Ernesto Valverde

I don't see Madrid being stronger (I might regret saying this!) this year. They still have the same problems that caused them so much trouble last year and they haven't really addressed them. Add to that that Zidane is quite a divisive figure with his favourites and the club pretty much saying to several players that they can go, or actively trying to off load them (Modric, Bale, Marcello etc). It is going to take a lot of good management to gel them together. They were awful last year and they didn't improve when Zizou came back. Atleti will be our main rivals, unless they walk the league if we implode.

I think Real will be better than last year but I can't see them nor Atleti touching us in the league really. I mean we just took Atleti's best player by a mile.

lol we'll bottle the league.

We just bottled the CL 2x, CDR 1x and this year it will be the league.

This year we will get an extra serving of the Valverde specialty.

What? Another league title and cup win? Yes please. He lost one league match in the whole of the 2017/18 season. One. Crap manager...jeez people have short memories.

I think Hazard alone will make Real Madrid better. He might very well be the player they lacked last year, but yeah you have some good points Poor_Sunyol.

Nobody gives a flying fuck about the league. La liga is simply not strong anymore.

The cl is what counts for Messi and Barça. Bottling it in Europe is not a good look in Europe especially foe a club of our pedigree.

Madrid fear mongering getting out of hand.

I will make sure to pull up some of the more hysterical posts once we walk the league by a dozen points yet again and make it the furthest in the CL out of any Spanish club.

You forgot the part where we bottle a 5-0 lead in the CL

Also, if RM and ATM fail to challenge Retardo’s Barca in the league again, La Liga will officially be a meme league closer to serie A than to the premier league. We won it last season with the same points total as Tata freaking Martino

Valverde’s league success says more about how much La Liga has weakened recently than anything. The CL exposed his true level.

If La Liga manages to get its shit together, maybe itll finally give the board the wake up call to finally get rid of Valverde.

With Hazard and Jovic they have a massive improvement compared to last season but I also think that they are still too weak to cause us problems. Even though Zidane had won 3 Cls in row, we must consider that Prime Modric and terrfic Ronaldo were his key to make this achievment. Ronaldo is gone and Modric is much weaker now and Zidane isnt a tactial genius. ImO they will play bad under Zidane, will maybe win Copa and at the end of the season Zinedine will be fired :zidane:

Still cant believe this clown is still our coach, we're more of a paper club nowadays, with way to much apathy and disinterest from anyone to change anything.

Hell, I bet its going to be all cheers and sunshine in the Gamper trophy, instead of fucking boooooo's, if none from the board wont grow balls, at least us supporters we can express our thoughts on how shit this team has been handled.

And fuck the popular belief that we are spoiled because we won some trophies, we've been winning ugly for years, with fear & weakness and that is not Barca, or not for me

Nice video, thanks. I don't agree with some of it but pretty balanced all the same. I am not a Valverde fan-boy, I want to make that clear (again). My point has been and remains that I don't think that anyone could have done any better with the tools at his disposal. He has got an aging squad and he has got some 'untouchables' in the side. Those are facts, not opinions. He is not responsible for the transfers (that is where I totally disagree with the video and I was, quite frankly, amazed that they even suggested it) but he could have perhaps gotten more out of Coutinho (Dembele has turned out to be a huge waste of money and we will be lucky to get any ROI with him). Nevertheless (even though he isn't in charge of transfers) big money signings don't always turn out. There are too many examples to list. What I do think he has done well is to manage to win titles with all those problems. The video suggests that he instigated a change of tactics. Perhaps he was forced to change to those tactics in order to get the best out what he had to his disposal? Either way, I still think we will have another tough year and will do until the 'untouchables' decide to move on or hang up their boots. A decision they can only make.

I'm actually amazed people really think better managers don't actually... you know... manage and lead better than average managers like Valverde.

It's just bad logic. Some managers are better than others precisely because they do better and are more skilled. It's the same in every profession on this planet. The better professionals do their job at a higher level than lesser ones.

So, let's just drop the 'nobody could've done better than Valverde in these conditions' tagline. That's just pure rubbish.
