(Rafael hernandez journalist on #Elclàsico.)
The moment Valverde started Rakitic and Sergi Roberto on the midfield, we knew this match wasn't going to be a pretty one and that Frenkie De Jong would have to do everything by himself.
Valverde played for the draw at home and against a Real Madrid side that's nothing special. He is coaching Barcelona, not Getafe! We are past criticizing the coach for being a coward, but again: he's a disgrace.
Took Barcelona thirty minutes to take a shot at Real Madrid's goal. Meanwhile Real Madrid rightfully prioritized the midfield and created most of the clear cut scoring chances in the match. The worst ninety minutes in a Clásico that I watched.
Barça lacked aggressivity to make matters worse, Vidal, Sergi Roberto and Rakitic playing, and not even that they managed to bring to the game. The midfield was devoid of anything from beginning to end, with De Jong the only one trying to create and attack.
Ter Stegen with a world class match once again. The moment the defense and midfield fails, he's there to make saves or incredible long passes.
Suarez barely tracks back, doesn't press or do anything besides finish rarely or wasting good passes. This won't end well for Barcelona in the Champions League. Again.
Messi tried to do everything, he was let down by his teammates and his coach. Again.
A match to forget, another opportunity lost. First time in 17 years that El Clásico ends goalless.
