Barca didnt get dominated at Anfield though. The game was even on balance of play and had chances to score which would kill the game. There was too much poor finishing and individual errors/concentration.

There is absolutely nothing a coach can do when Alba makes that mistake in opening minutes of game and sets the tone from there.
I'd blame that goal on Rakitic 90% and alba 10%.
Apart from that, we looked terrible coming on for the second half.

The first goal is on Alba and nothing to do with Rakitic. He lost ball for later goal.

The two legs were fairly even. Individual moments decided them. Good and bad.

Every time I log on to Barcaforum, I see a bunch of action on the Retardo thread. I wonder if there's been some news or something, and then I see it's just more discussions around Retardo

Blaming him for Bayern loss, rofl, obsession with poor Valverde is taking new levels. He was decent coach and had a good season, mediocre season and poor season with us.
Most of Valverde supporters agreed that his time should have been up after losing out to Liverpool, but for some reason he was allowed to continue and then horribly switched mid-season after our game had been starting to improve finally, for absolutely awful Setien.
Valverde did what he was tasked to do, bring at least La Liga, keep the old vet core happy, by playing them and accept whoever was transferred in. This was in line with board giving them high wages, so that Barto and co could finish up the presidency and leave the mess whoever came after them. He was never a strong character and great motivator, but he was quite good tactician, realizing soon that our aging squad was not really capable of playing the football fans were used to. So he adapted, we grinded out results in league, but ultimately failed in CL.
Morten is right saying that Barcelona (maybe Juve and Bayern as well) is the only squad were fanbase demands coach to be sacked after delivering back-to-back league titles.
Our results after Valverde show that he was important part of puzzle that kept things at least on decent level. Setien was absolutely godawful, why are not people trashing him in his thread. Had no authority over players (unlike Valverde, who was respected), was completely outplayed in most important matches and lost the plot completely vs Bayern, something Valverde never did.
I do not get why people are still obsessed with blaming the humilations on Valverde only, while stupid management by board and individual chokes and mental weakness from players played just as big part.

This.
I even disliked it when they renewed him in Jan 2019, and said he was better off as 2 years stop gap before getting ourselves someone new for more youth movement

Blaming him for the Bayern result is not right, I agree.
I disagree though, with one of the things you say, more specificaly this: "Our results after Valverde show that he was important part of puzzle that kept things at least on decent level"
Our results after he left, show that our team had reached such a low level that only his anti-football destructive tactics (a.k.a. pass the ball slowyly and withouth purpose so we don't get exposed and hope Messi has a moment) could get us a results, and that's why (between many other reasons, one being he was not respected by anyone) Setien failed misserably. So, the aftermath of EV's departure shows the destruction he left behind.
Setien was not fit to take the job, especialy at that point and cucked out of his ideas as soon as the first bad results came.
Koeman has the respect of the players and sticks to his ideas of improving our play, even if those don't work from the get go. Also, our physical condition has improved immensly with Koeman, which also shows another bad EV aspect.

no, not facts.

he bears ultimate responsibility for the Bayern loss. Setien is as culpable as Jordi Roura was for the 7-0, also to bayern, years ago (different circumstances entirely but Roura had about as much time and influence on that squad as Setien did prior to the 8-2. both were 'immediately' responsible because they were in charge, but the latent and deeper reasons lay entirely with EV.

If you are hired to take care of aging club of amigos, then I personally do not really see how any coach would have done a better job. Squad needed desperate overhaul already years ago, but nothing was done. What Setiens time proves (he tried to make them run, be more agile etc) was actually proving Valverdes way to be the only successful one with that team. Only thing Valverde can be blamed of is being a yes man and just quietly doing his job, but that is what he was hired for. He is one of those coaches. Bielsa would have lasted maybe 2-3 weeks with the board we had. Some may have thrown a tantrum, when he was presented players he never wanted, some may have been eaten out by the senior players.
It is almost like you guys never had a job, where your supervisors have told you to grind out results best you can do. Fixated blame on 1 person.
Koeman started dismantling Valverdes squad because board gave him permission to do so, even Barto realized after Bayern loss, that same team cannot go on.

Valverdes biggest downfall was being a yes man. Which is funny because that's why he lasted this long. Any coach with ambition would have told the management to get rid of past it amigos, yet it didn't look like he was bothered by anything. He was similar to our board, kissing the players ass and being just as delusional as the players.

This is hilarious, never heard sacked coach being blamed for results that happened after 8 months, not to mention the covid and injury issues that happened in the middle.
