Guess who makes the most noise? Those who joined the cult last.

I only respect Morten and Messigician from this thread.

I thought BBZ was the original EV fan although maybe you're leaving him out since he isn't in the football threads anymore.

I really need to step up my game and stop being a sheep on these topics. With Valverde and Messi, I bought the Barca social media narrative almost completely both times. At least I was quick to reevaluate my position on each occasion but I can't put myself in the same tier as those who could appreciate Valverde's work without needing to see the team collapse without him.

You use what you have. Pep might be tactically a brilliant coach but he needs to have his players to be tailor-made for him. He couldnt do what Jose did for Porto and Inter or what Klopp has done for Liverpool. Ernesto? In 2017 when he stepped in, he had an ageing squad with shit-for-brains Dembele and Coutinho who just didnt fit. Messi and Suarez were already drastically declining. You couldnt play tiki-taka with the squad. You couldt play attractive football without it backfiring by conceding goals. You had to be pragmatic. Ernesto was.

Don't really know where to put this, but this might be the best possible fit, as Pep Lijnders explains how Klopp and his team made Valverde their bitch.
And of course the Anfield debacle is a famous topic in here.

Take note of his repeating comment that Barca (of the time) is not a high pressing team, that they don't like getting pinned back which doesn't happen in Spain, that they man-mark in the last line of defense :)facepalm:), that if you cut Busi's passing lanes you stop their play.
SO MANY obvious Ernieball FLAWS for modern football that even an amateur could spot.
No wonder that a top-2 coach in the world spotted them and exploited big time

The 8-2 against Bayern proved that the flaws were with that group of senior players rather than Ernieball. He largely did the best he could with the team he had at his disposal.
