Motivation?? Dude you must be joking, team was already on fire that season and they wanted the treble after the humilations in previous years. Individual mistakes in defence/midfield and our offense not able to score only 1 goal made the disaster perfect....no coach itw could have rescued this team!

Until Flick arrived, Barca had been dabbed on in CL every season for almost a decade. EV is the only one who gets accused of bottling the title though because some overrated that squad and he overachieved enough that it made people think Barca were CL favorites.
Lucho got beaten handedly in the quarters with a better squad and Neymar the year before EV took over. Xavi couldn't even get out of the group stage in 22-23 with a better squad than EV had. Retort is usually that EV had Messi so should have won CL though Messi played 8 CL campaigns under 6 coaches from 2016-2023 without making a semifinal under any other coach and was knocked out in earlier rounds and by bigger margins without mister.

The "world class" players held back by EV are the likes of Firpo, Arthur, Semedo, and Malcom who have done nothing at the top level since he left.
Meanwhile, the players deemed not good enough when Xavi was here are the likes of Raphina and RL9 who some might say have done quite a bit better.

The elimination vs. Roma in particular is just inexcusable.
And what did Valverde do the entire match? Nothing. His first change was 10 minutes before the game ended with Andre Gomes coming in for Iniesta.
Then Dembele and Paco Alcacer coming in five minutes before the end when it was 3-0. One of the worst managed games of his entire career. He froze.
