Yes there was definitely contact, but certainly not to the degree that caused Sterling to fall in the fashion which he did, hence it is called a dive.

He took advantage of the contact and dived to win a penalty, like many footballers have done.

I agree. There was contact, not enough for him to go down.

But actually, no different to what the Danish players had done during the game.

I feel uncomfortable calling things like that a dive. You feel contact and have a split-second decision to decide what to do. I agree it probably shouldn't have been a penalty, but calling Sterling a cheater because of it feels harsh to me.

He dived and cheated.

Fans usually treat their own players differently when do it.

Was going down before contact even made.

I mean, you don't need this to call Sterling a cheater. He's the worst of the worst, and he absolutely is a cheater.

Man probably jumps out of his bed and rolls on the floor every morning to stay in form.

You can see this was a dive by looking at the way he falls down. Starts even before the contact's been made.

Congrats nonetheless.

There are many types of dives. Neymar doesn't fall on his own without an opponent touching him a bit either. He finds the tiniest bit of contact, he milks it, makes it seem bigger than it is to obtain a penalty / yellow / red whatever he can. That should be considered a dive.

Sterling dived deliberately to win the penalty. Anybody who has done that should be rightfully called out, no matter what club or country they play for.

A dive is a dive. Let's call a spade a spade.

Taking out Damsgaard and Dolberg must be the weridest/stupidest decision so far.

There is no point having both Poulssen and Braithwaite on together.

That lost Denmark the game. They were playing quite well before they went off. I have no clue why he used his subs by the 85th minute. It obviously gave England the advantage.

Denmark did well in the tournament. Tough to breakdown and give it their all, but they don't have enough quality in the final 3rd to break teams down consistently.

I suspect that Italy will have most of the possession due to having a better midfield than England. England will most likely sit back and try to counter with Saka and Sterling. I don't think England will create much against this Italian side. I think Italy will win it in the 90 minutes.

England is so unlikeable.

The amount of times they throw themselves to the ground is a disgrace. Sterling continues to dive. Also, there were 2 balls on the pitch as Sterling dived. What the hell is VAR doing?

This tournament was rigged as soon as England was allowed to play 6 homes games and having the easiest run to the final. If there's any justice, Italy will beat them.

No more rigged than when a country is chosen as host. France x 3.

English are always on their high horse about diving but cheat towards a win like this?
Its a 100% dive since he was looking to run into something and kane and him were already diving all match like this.
Its a sneaky dive but a dive nonetheless.

Add in the favouritism with 6 games at wembley with barely any away fans, soft route and arrogant boasting fans who jeer the national anthem.
Suddenly im rooting for Italy for the first time in my life on sunday.

To be fair though, he neglected checking the pics himself another time, when he didn't give Kane the penalty
This ref was new to me I think, didn't recognize him. I think he made a few mistakes, he annoyed me very much.

Whether there was a bit of contact or not, Sterling dove very clearly, you cannot let that decide a semi final, it's sickening.

The 'route to final' argument is completely flawed.

They were gteed a top team in last 16 and after that no one could have really predicted it from there.
