Euro 2020 (2021)

Germany were so 'poor' that they created the best chances (xG value) than any other team against England.
Of course the only top teams England have played against is Germany and now Denmark.

Denmark had good circulation of the ball, but were unable to penetrate in the final third. No significant chance the whole game.
On the contrary, they conceded easily two through-balls by Kane that created 2 clear-cut chances (one that Sterling wasted, and the other one he was about to do the same before Kjaer took care of it himself).

Italy much better overall in the tournament than England, who is the Italian side this time around: caring only about how not to concede, and unable to create.

This hitman will take care of Sterling and Harry Kane tonight.

Calma guys. Calma.

England team overrated? Yeah I agree, although we do have many high potential youngsters coming through

Other nations play the sport better? I agree again. in fact, the PL would be nowhere near as big as it's become without the foreign influence of people like Pep. The best players in the league mostly aren't English (depending on how you feel about Kane). We'd still be playing Tony Pulis hoofball without them

I find it ridiculous to suggest though that we are being handed anything. England have been on the shit end of the ref stick so many times I've lost count over the years; Lampards 'no goal' vs Germany always comes to mind. To be an England fan is to suffer, even tonight the manager decided to take Grealish off and go more defensive despite us looking like scoring another

The sweet part, I guess, is coming through a tough game with the amount of hate we get which isn't warranted. I'm an Englishman and a Barca fan (no other clubs) and I despise the EPL fanboys but when it comes to the country, people are wrong. maybe it's the "footballs coming home" thing which, btw, is mostly a meme at this point.

Anyways, vs Italy we have a very tough job and I think we'll come up short but to see us actually reach a final is massive
Fair enough. But this years tournament is clearly biased in England's support. 6 games at home in a supposed all continent tourney, the easy route to the final and this incredible mistake by the referee in the semis. Also you guys play horrible football.

Such bitter nonsense.

There was no biased draw for England. The ref and VAR team had clearer pen to give earlier in game if that way inclined. England been better team vs every side they have faced and scored 8 goals in 3 knock out games.

All this now being burped out when they have made it through and not a month ago before tournament when all in place.

The home game thing is mostly due to the pandemic though, I haven't really followed news but I think we are mostly ahead of Europe in that regard.

Easy route is debatable. in our group we had Scotland - fierce rivalry. Croatia - gave Spain a tough match. Czech - beat Holland, didn't do too bad vs Denmark. Then we had Germany (okay they aren't Germany of old but we still usually let the occasion get to us), Ukraine - I'll give you that although that match vs Sweden really screwed them and then Denmark, one of the surprises of the Euros. imo the "easy" teams have really put up a fight this Euro and played without fear

I know we play horrible and actually when we have Grealish, Sancho and Foden, we probably shouldn't but it is what it is. International football is about winning it in whatever way you can, just look at Portugal

How can a national who plays the entire tournament at a home stadium, while everyone else is travelling thousands of kilometres per game, resort to cheating to winning games?

Blood pouring out of my eyes! I'm genuinely disgusted with this sport right now!

Bunch of cheats!

Disgusting!

Come on now, it's not really debatable.
Groups least of all can't be excused as everyone had England topping it before tournament and part of the reason why Southgate was on the shit end of the stick during group stage after 2 draws and poor offensive performance, odd selection.
+ all at home.
Putting up a fight shouldn't matter. Team with this much quality absorbs whatever fight the other side puts up and dispatches them just on difference in talent. Rayo and Betis used to get 5+ goal whipping when they 'fought' vs Barca and no one expected anything different.

Portugal had a pish route to the final, just as easy if not worse and are probably (potentially) a worse winner than England will be so not that much of a defense.

Difference really being that England is full of 'nice lads' who act like Liverpool players and want to play all clean but who's the MVP? The dirtiest player and biggest cunt in the side. In of itself it means nothing, but optics are hilarious. Juxtapose that with the pretense of 'feel good' 96 song interpreted with a fair share of dishonesty by a big section of fans. What's there to like? Football? Ugh. Players? Sometimes. The media just make it 1000x worse all the time. Even now been pushing narrative that this team is still so young and so inexperienced, getting excuses in.

I mean you see that yourself:
To be an England fan is to suffer, even tonight the manager decided to take Grealish off and go more defensive despite us looking like scoring another

I'm trying to think of a movie character that personifies this England side, had them in the back of my mind but forgot now.
But if Italy is the villain because they're a bunch of cheating cunts, go figure why 99% of Europe will root for them over England, especially after tonight.

Sure, your points are sensible. And agree that Portugal 2016 it s a worse winner than England 2021. I just think you were helped in this tournament, but then again, that may be long overdue. Still rooting for the italians, i think they played better until now.

Finally.

Sterling was not a penalty.

Denmark goal was not a free kick.

When free kick was taken, Denmark players too close to England wall:
Where three or more defending team players form a 'wall, all attacking team players must remain at least 1m from the 'wall' until the ball is in play,"

Foul on Kane probably was a penalty.

Balance of play, Denmark good for 70/75 mins but tired.

England deserved to win, on balance.

Finally: the tournament across 13 countries, much travelling for some. Favoured those playing at home - 4 semi finalists all had home games. England favoured with semi and final at home. But so would tournament hosts in the usual set up.
France have hosted x 3. Germany have hosted x 2. So England playing catch up.

Only one World Cup hosted. England not favoured.

The issue here is probably Turkey. They should have been tournament hosts, but UEFA did not want that. So came up with this set up, to give them some games, but spread it, so they were not sole hosts.

Italy start as favourites. Football probably going to Rome not home. But England will give them a tougher game than Denmark.
