ESL isn't happening(not now, anyway), so i dont understand why RM, Barca and Juventus are choosing to die on this hill.

Not really, give it a few years and the economic situation will improve again.

In a few years the English clubs, PSG, Bayern, Dortmund will have already reinvested. Barca and Real trying to play catch up.

1. La Liga can't punish us since they already hate us due to being Catalan and wanting indenpendence. They are refereeing against us either way already.
2. Uefa can't hurt us since we either way lose 0:4 to 0:8 against anyone in a round of 16 of a CL
3. sponsors won't get mad since we won't be that attractive due to a state of La Liga, Messi leaving and us being a crap in a CL

So, Barca has nothing to lose, except some moral points from football purists fans who hate money and elitism.

I think Ronaldo will go back to Utd in any case. Messi could join City.
