European Super League

They simply can't pull out now. Perez already stated every club has signed and the contract is binding.

The loan is binding, not the league itself. JP Morgan isn't paying for the league, they are giving these teams an advance loan. They get 3% interest on this massive loan in return.

Only 15 clubs will get more cash. The rest is worse off than before. This isnt in any way adressing the gap between the rich and the poor, this is just going in the direction "well lets just fuck the poor then".

Not really. This might still end up benefiting all. We don't know how the league could look in ten years. One thing we do know: Fifa and Uefa has been pocketing shitloads of money for YEArS. Teams are just taking control of the situation instead of letting Fifa/Uefa run the show. It was bound to happen at some point.

If true and more clubs are pulling out, it is going to make a mockery out of ourselves and particularly Florentino Perez.

So technically this is great for Barca because we can get a huge loan for decent price?

Can we use the loan to finance whatever we want?

this isnt much different except these clubs pocket a largely bigger cut than UEFA did.

But making also bigger revenue. Even if smaller clubs make smaller portion, it will show up as a bigger number.

If those potential streaming deal numbers are true. Not sure why this didn't happen earlier? So much more money..

I don't see how the smaller teams who are not in the ESL will be making more money, unless I am missing something.

But this is going the opposite way of that. Instead of New York Knicks not being able to qualify, these 12 clubs have guaranteed themselves automatic qualification to this super league every season. I agree that the gap in football has been widening already and something needs to change but this is only accelerating that gap, not fixing it.

You can blame UEFA and FIFA for that one. By allowing oil-driven companies to buy football clubs and then with the FFP, it's killing every smaller club every year. UEFA and FIFA talk like the Super League is awful and that they will destroy football, but UEFA and FIFA were the ones that started it.

With those said teams being in the Super League, it actually gives a chance for the smaller teams to qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League. Thus, making them more money. UEFA and FIFA only care because it takes away their profits. I doubt they'd care if the likes of Everton, Burnley, Leicester, Sevilla and Valencia made their own Super League. But because it's those certain teams, they want to stop it.

I'm not saying I'm in favour of the Super League. I'm just saying, UEFA and FIFA are just as bad. They honestly don't care for the good of the game. They only care about making more money.

There isnt new revenue, it's just redistribution of existing revenue and market shares.
Broadcast/sponsorship in domestic leagues/UEFA comps will decrease significantly and instead be invest into the ESL, who keep 90% of it and repay 10% of it as "solidarity payments" or whatever which is less than the small clubs would have had if they made just kept their sponsors and broadcasters.

If it was a collective action of clubs taking away power from corrupt FIFA/UEFA then there would be many more clubs involved, not just the most marketable/richest ones. Many clubs would support an uprising against the corruption that has plagued football for a long time. This, however is just more corruption done by these 12 clubs themselves. They are so terrified of losing their status and being caught by other clubs that have been smaller that they want to create an exclusive elitist club that keeps them in the limelight no matter what.

That's probably true to some level. They are afraid of new "sheik" teams showing up, like Newcastle.

Or Red Bull teams.

Hopefully a 2nd league will be created quick then, as those smaller clubs are suffering probably even more than the big clubs because of the pandemic.

Teams with the highest salaries will suffer the most. Barcelona probably the most out of any team because our irresponsible salary planning. Hah.
