European Super League

The clubs don't have the control. UEFA does. You can play your card right and make UEFA rethink some things. Or you can overplay your card, and suffer the consequences. If these clubs are banned from competitions that are under FIFA/UEFA jurisdiction, they are in big trouble.

They won't ban them. If they do, I doubt the big clubs will care. They'll just join the Super League and make a lot of money. UEFA and FIFA need those big teams more than the big teams need UEFA and FIFA. It's why UEFA and FIFA are panicking at the moment. They know damn well that the big clubs can survive without them.

By my rough calculations of revenue sharing among the 32 teams in the CL...they amount to ~ 2 billion. That leaves 500 million - 1 billion unexplained just from TV revenue alone. Apparently, UEFA's total revenue each year is around 4 billion.

Really? They didn't even give a fine and some clubs are backtracking . I suspect that if they give a deadline for all the EPL clubs that if they don't get out they will be expelled from Premier League in the next three hours all are out from Superleague.

If that were true, it would have happened already.

I think it's quite the opposite. Local teams are doing fine.
Big clubs have starting to become more like big investment companies, no one really cares what the true supporters say. See Liverpool
But be aware. Those chinese and indonesia "fans" are very easily becoming "fans" of another team because it has better and shiniest players.
In the future? Who know maybe we see Liverpool Trotters or Barcelona Giants with shows all over the world and fancy fans all around.

Well as I said.. Watch out who your real fans are..

Says who? You? There are still a ton of Chinese AC Milan and Inter Milan fans sticking around just fine, and yes, Arsenal fans too without jumping ship.

Do some research before you speak please. Don't just assume.

I think things aren't very advanced yet. But if they get advanced, I think UEFA/FIFA will win this. Also, UEFA/FIFA are unlikable, but somehow these 12 clubs managed to look even worse.

There's been a firestorm for the past 48 hours. I doubt the 12 clubs would have taken this step without considering all legal grounds. Although, they've tanked in the court of public opinion, some for the right reasons (founder status is BS) and some for the wrong reasons (UEFA current model is doing next to nothing to prop football communities).

I know. But City and Chelsea don't need the guaranteed money as Spurs and Arsenal do.

Everton and other clubs get by with a lot less money than Spurs and Arsenal do. No club needs guaranteed money. If they are spending beyond their means then they should cut back but neither Arsenal or Spurs are spending beyond their means.

What they want is to maintain the same revenue without having to worry about success on the pitch. That's why this is attractive to them. That's different from needing guaranteed money.

I suspect they are banking on FIFA/UEFA not going full-on retribution mode, because of what FIFA/UEFA have to lose if they do. But FIFA/UEFA might just be do that, and if they do, shit hits the fan.

And no doubt this is so their home games will be also be played in China. At what point does it cease to be a Milan or Arsenal team?

My, oh my, some comments in here.

Btw., the ESL has a terrible PR campaign. Only people out there supporting it are Perez and Agnelli, probably the most unlikable club presidents out there. Not even Zidane, in charge of the founder of the competition, voiced his support. Might be I'm out of the loop, but haven't seen much support for it coming from sporting circles.

You wanna sell something to people and you send Perez preach arrogantly on TV. Yeah, not gonna happen soon.

And at the same time, FIFA/UEFA going full-on retribution mode comes with the cost of them ending up with Bayern, PSG, and a whole bunch of Europa level clubs. Which is exactly why FIFA/UEFA have been paper tigers so far and been crying more than taking legal action/sanctions.

I mean the crime is egregious. What's taking them so long to decide the punishment except that they don't have the power to punish.

Milan should have thought of that before selling out to Berlusconi and becoming the Milan modern fans know through his funds (golden Dutch trio and so many other great players).

Many organisations comes prepared and lose, it is natural in businesses.
Just because those clubs, and their legal teams, thought they are prepared legally, it doesn't mean they are right about it.
Not like FIFA and UEFA doesn't have elite legal teams on their disposal too.
