Meh, we can complain about that disallowed goal but fact is we were just not good enough. Don't think I can give a positive grade to any player besides Caro and Jana.
Lot of complacency in this team that I don't like. Happened before too in league games against much worse opponents when we went down early but then replied with 4 or 5 goals so that was forgotten. But there were worrying signs before this game, it's just that other teams don't have enough quality to punish us. Madrid does now and so do Chelsea/City and Lyon we could possibly play against in CL.
It's obviously hard to stay focused when you are so superior for a long time but hopefully the team will take this loss not as a ref robbery but as a reminder that we shouldn't take wins against them as granted anymore. We are still a better team but need to play at our best not half-assing it anymore like 2-3 years ago when quality gap was so big we could afford that.
Think Pere got it wrong with the lineup too, especially in defense. He did a bit of a Flick against Osasuna experiment that failed. Respect Marta for all she's done for the club but she just can't keep it up anymore. At least not as a starter against Madrid or Atleti. Jana Fernandez is a superior player and should start when Ona is not available. Rolfo is also far from her best this season and Esme should be starting. Really think we should bring a new CB in summer, Paredes level has dropped a lot as well. She's out of contract and I've read she has offers from Mexico but prefers to stay. No idea what club plans are and what players are available on the market (and how much we can afford to spend) but wouldn't be too disappointed if she would move on. And there were reports Engen wanted out already in January so I assume she'll leave as well and we'll def need one if not two new CBs.
As much as I like Sydney's talent I think at this point of her career she's better off the bench. She started well and you can see class on the ball, also unlucky not to score another golazo but after first 15 minutes not involved much. Very disappointing game by Pajor too. And we clearly missed Ona, Kika and Pina (no idea why Vicky wasn't brought on from the bench though) but Madrid rested a few starters for CL too so missing players shouldn't be an excuse.
