The first economic projections for this season point today to "new millionaire losses"

It is a fact that, according to the club, conditions the sports planning that seeks above all to lighten the wage bill and bet on young people.
Bar?a is a sinking ship ... The loss forecast for this new season remains high.

At this point, the wage bill continues to be above 65%
The agreements with Alba and Busquets have been announced, but it has to continue with other players

With 10 months till end of fiscal year, this is really premature reporting tbh.
I highly doubt we will end up with a loss at the end of the year tbh.

Yeah, but it's difficult. But if in the end we have benefits they will be like Madrid this year, 800,000, 1M, 2M ...
----
I just listened the radio show from cadena SER

To date, all the projections made by the board of directors give economic losses for this year. The wage bill right now is above 65%, which is the maximum recommended by the League, wages must be lowered.
If there are losses for the second consecutive year, elections must be called by the club's bylaws. The situation is still reversible with more wages cuts, with sponsors, with sales before June 30, etc.

Griezmann cearned 38 millions gross per year (it is not known if there are also bonuses), which Atl?tico will pay in full and in 1 or 2 years they have to pay 40M. So Bar?a saves 114M for the three years remaining on his contract. The main reason for its sale is economic.

Roberto's salary will drop off totally or around 40%, Dembele will be gone. That's a lot of money itself.

Coutinho most likely loaned/sold.

A boatload of money.

and if it's true Umtiti and Pjanic taking 50% salary cut.

Bar?a's salary bill is now 420M. It was at 617M last season. Bar?a have saved up close to 200M in salaries for this season in the transfer window.

Probably still need to cut it by another 100m if to get that 65% of revenue.

The salaries are now an 85% of the total income of FC Barcelona. There was a point in which it was over 110%

85% of Covid income, but when we get match revenue and other income we have missed these past 18 months our revenue goes up and the salary percentage should fall close to 65-70%.

Thanks Barto.

The rising contracts mean that Bar?a's salary problem is not close to being solved. An example of this was that of Griezmann, the figures of which today has revealed
https://twitter.com/sergiescudero/status/1434455982176886785

Ascending contracts drown Barcelona

The wage bill is the main headache that Joan Laporta's board has encountered since he came to power in March and, because of this, in this summer market they have had to take drastic measures to be able to fulfill the financial 'fair play', but the situation is far from resolved and much of the blame is on the rising contracts of some players.

Shortly before the departure of Leo Messi to Paris Saint-Germain, Laporta reported that Bar?a's wage bill accounted for 110% of the club's income, an unsustainable percentage that with the Rosario's goodbye decreased to 95%.

Later, with the salary reductions of three of the captains (Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqu? and Jordi Alba) and the goodbye of some players, especially that of Antoine Griezmann, it was possible to place below 70%, the limit set by LaLiga. Thanks to all this, Bar?a has managed to get rid of some 140 million euros in salary mass.

But this is far from the end of the problem. Laporta also explained that the 'due diligence' (which will be detailed in the Assembly of Compromisarios in October) revealed that the contracts of some players were ascending, swelling precisely as of this summer, when Bartomeu's term was scheduled to end.

A clear example of this situation was Griezmann's contract, which has now been revealed by the newspaper 'Sport'. If the bonuses are added, the French forward's salary approach stipulated that he could have earned 33.5 million euros in his first season; 29.5 in the second; 37.5 in the third (the current one); 38 in the fourth and 39 in the fifth.

The clause that most inflated the salary was the 'loyalty bonus', the bonus for continuing to wear Bar?a from the third year. In the 2021-2022 season, he would have had to charge 7 million euros for this concept and 6.5 per year in the next two. Finally, in the two courses of Barcelona Griezmann received a total of 46.5 million.

Some media point out that, due to rising salaries, Bar?a's salary mass could have increased by 50 million euros compared to last year if Leo Messi's salary is not taken into account (his contract ended on June 30 2021).

Thus, the Bar?a leadership must continue negotiating with the players with the highest salary in the squad, such as Philippe Coutinho (who has the highest payroll after Griezmann's departure), Samuel Umtiti and the captain who remains to lower it, Sergi Roberto, to lighten economic stress. In the latter case, the negotiations are advanced.

All this happens in a context in which Bar?a announced losses of 487 million euros in the 2020-2021 course and a debt of 1,350 million.

'As of March 21, 2021, the debt was €1.35bn,' revealed Laporta. 'Bartomeu was plugging holes in the short term and mortgaging the club in the long term. That leaves us a dramatic inheritance.

'The situation is dramatic, but we have good news,' he added. 'The strategic plan based on our credibility and experience, on the assets that Barca have, makes this situation temporary.

'I think that in a couple of years, the club's economy will be healthy. We are not scared at all. We are highly motivated and positive and morale is high. It's a big challenge but we are capable of overcoming it.'

Apologies that the quote is from the totally unreliable United biased DM. However, the last sentence or two does give hope. The difficulty being what standard of football and position in the league is maintained in the meantime.

Laporta yesterday in his TV3 - interview:

Masa salarial (salaries + amortization) has already been reduced from 110% of sales(revenue) to 80%. The aim is to be at 65-70% as soon as possible. He paid compliments to Mateu Alemany and CEO Ferran Reverter. It was a difficult task and they and their teams did an excellent job. It was very, very much and hard work that went into it.

If amortisation is included in the 80% , that is brilliant news tbh

Barcelona, close to securing the new sponsor of its shirt for next season

Barcelona is in "advanced negotiations" with a company interested in advertising in its shirt as of next season and that would occupy the space of Rakuten, which has occupied this place since 2017 and whose contract, which ends on June 30, 2022, no renewal is expected. Sources from the Bar?a club revealed to ESPN Digital that the talks began "months ago" and that the agreement, which is estimated to be close, will significantly improve current conditions with the Japanese company, which pays a fixed amount of 30 million euros.

The signing with the new sponsor, which the club hopes to announce before the end of the year, would show the strength of the Bar?a brand despite the departure of Lionel Messi , denying the information regarding the decline in popularity and interest with the big players. companies due to the loss of the Argentine star, which was calculated at 137 million euros, and reinforcing its position among the great clubs in the world.

The board of directors of Joan Laporta, one of whose priorities when reaching the presidency of the club was "to go from 29 sponsors to 49", maintained since the electoral campaign, as announced before the elections, conversations with various companies, two of them from the technology sector to which at least one of 'crypto exchanges' would have joined in recent months, dedicated to the sale of cryptocurrencies and which would become the first of this branch to be advertised on the shirt of a football club ... Although it has opposing opinions in the offices because it is considered an unethical sector and whose agreement would only be considered in the case of assuming an exorbitant offer.

However, Barcelona, despite the current limitations in the world of sports sponsorship due to the coronavirus pandemic, estimates that it will achieve income "much higher" than the 30 million it currently obtains from the Japanese company specialized in electronic commerce and content. by streaming and to this he adds the option of sponsoring the left sleeve of the shirt, which was left free after the resignation of the Beko appliance company to continue paying 19 million per year to do it together with the training shirt, which it maintains until the end of the course for 10 millions.

HISTORICAL
This Tuesday marks the 15th anniversary of the signing between Bar?a and UNICEF, revolutionary at the time, in September 2006, and which led the United Nations Organization for Children to be the first to advertise on the shirt of the first Bar?a team, which debuted it five days later in a Champions League match against Levski, which was settled with a 5-0 victory.

Presented as a promotional instrument for solidarity purposes, that agreement caused the club to pay the agency dedicated to guaranteeing the fulfillment of children's rights 0.7 percent of its annual income, approximately 1.5 million euros per season, and abandon the various options that he handled in the previous months, such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic bid or the Betandwin betting house and for which he was speculating with an income higher, at that time, than 12 million euros.

UNICEF remained on the Bar?a shirt until June 2011, six months after Sandro Rosell, who replaced Joan Laporta in the presidency in 2010, signed a contract with the Qatar Foundation, for a five-year duration and which brought him an income 30 million euros per year until 2016, being presented by the then economic vice-president Javier Faus as an "extraordinary milestone" by making the Bar?a club the highest paid for showing advertising on his shirt.

PASSED
At the end of ten years and after Josep Maria Bartomeu, who succeeded Rosell in command, did not renew the relationship with Qatar and signed with Rakuten at the end of 2016 , the Barcelona shirt has been widely displaced in terms of the best paid in world football, ranking in a discreet tenth position (also affected by the coronavirus), with an income of 30 million euros, far from the 70 that Fly Emirates pays to Real Madrid and that makes it the leader of the market.

Bar?a, through the intermediation of Gerard Piqu?, signed a four-season contract with Rakuten for which the Japanese multinational paid a fixed amount of 55 million euros per year between the 2017-18 and 2020-21 seasons, an amount that could increase to 61.5 million annually depending on the results. These bonuses established a prize of 5 million for the conquest of the Champions League (which was not achieved) and of 1.5 million for winning the League (he added two titles that meant extra income of 3 million), there being no other compensation for achieve other titles such as the Copa del Rey, the Spanish and European Super Cups or the Club World Cup.

The contract signed in November 2016 established a one-season extension clause, which had to be agreed by both parties in a reasonable period before completion and which was extended by the previous Bar?a president , Josep Maria Bartomeu, in recent weeks. prior to his resignation in October 2020.

This extension, however, was marked by the health situation , in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, and lowered the conditions to a fixed 30 million, more variable to a maximum of 35 million and valid until June 2022.

RELEASED
The signing of the new sponsor of the shirt will mean an "important relaunch" for Bar?a, which is pointed out by the club, adding to the 105 million per season that Nike comes in for sportswear and that lasts until June 2026.

With the leadership of these two main sponsors, the Bar?a club maintains the intention of maintaining during the first two years of Laporta's presidency the nearly 200 million euros for sponsorships, with the aim, from there, of increasing them with the activation of other categories not exploited so far.

A this point those rumours sound too optimistic. Doesn't make sense for any company to double on the expiring Rakuten deal given the decline in club popularity since Messi's departure and the shocking defeats in recent years.
