Bartomeu was visionary and did many things right on the corporate side to diversify and expand our revenue in the future (establishing BIHUB, which Real Madrid copied from us and launched their own Real Madrid Next; establishing Barca Studios, was ambitious enough to sign an acclaimed director to produce original content, had a cartoon series targeting kids, launching our own OTT Barca TV+; forming BLM to take merchandising in house), these are things that will take time and bear fruits in the long term. However on the core part of the business he was going crazy with spending, both on transfers and wages, assuming that our revenue will keep growing without hitches. Basically he put all the eggs in one basket without any contingency plans and recourse.

Visionary is way to much if a stretch, a visionary who constantly kicked the can down the road in hopes of a super league to clear up his mess, doesn't sound like someone who has too much "vision" to me.

I mean without Covid we would have been fine.

His sale of Barca corporate with the buy back clause he wanted to do and told Laporta to do would have been able to renew Messi early

Bartomeu was visionary in the sense that he knew what needed to be done on the growth side (of the revenue and brand etc.) but lost sight of the need to rein in expenses. In particular he was clumsy and bad at running the club with ample examples from panic buying to placating players/agents with those rising contracts and shenanigans such as Barcagate. His biggest fault is letting the debt go out of control which has become a ticking bomb for us.

He is better suited for starting a startup and gambling it up

We were so "fine" that we already relied on stalling signings and the book balancing swap to get by before. Maybe it was fine (at least financially) until Neymar left but that triggered the madness. Just imagine getting 222M for one player and the result is basically bankruptcy. That was just so bad, getting scalped left and right AND then even doubling down with the ludicrous Griezmann transfer.

Also the huge contracts still hurt, but of course that's only noticeable when it's about getting rid of players (or the salary cap this summer) so it wasn't really something to worry about for them years back.

It would've probably somehow worked out longer without covid, but it still wasn't completely healthy economic situation.

"Much higher" than what Rakuten is paying us (30m) right now doesn't say much. We should be looking for something similar to what Real Madrid is getting (70m a season).

There is no way we'll get close to 70m imo. We should undoubtely get more than clubs like Tottenham and Arsenal but I think with current team we'll have problems to get into top 10 on this list. Hope to be wrong but either way it should be a shorter term contract (2-3 years) so we can re(negotiate) a better deal soon when the whole world economy will hopefully recover from corona and we'll have a more competitive team and/or superstars (hopefully both) that will generate more interest from sponsors.

Also, very surprised Bayern is only getting 30m yearly from T-Mobile.

What's with Nike deal? After Messi left Q is will they try to "decrease" the total ...

Don't think it will change much, we're still under a longterm contract (though there were rumours we have no official contract with Nike since 2016  ) as Messi is Adidas's athlete. I'm sure they would try to lower the deal if he'd represent Nike though. They might actually benefit longterm as they can now promote their guy Fati as Barca's biggest star as long as he gets back on the pitch.

BTW, Frenkie is also wearing the same boots as Ansu (https://www.footballbootsdb.com/boot/Nike-Mercurial-Vapor-14/360) as is Haaland if we can get him.

Barcelona ,with al lcurrent mess will be happy with 35m sponsorship on the jerseys. No Messi, no "big" results, Spain isn't UK with financialy strong market...

As for Nike, please swap to Adidas.. thank you.

Was the budge for 19/20 season really that high? What justified it? We thought we were going to hit 1 billion euros of revenue?

765m for this season sounds good, as we are slashing the wage bill and cutting expenses everywhere. I take the figure was calculated to make sure we don't incur big losses?

Bar?a's board announces that it will submit to the approval of the delegates in October that anyone can become a member of the club electronically and without restrictions.

I hope it is approved, 185€/year.

So, our revenue projections should be around 765ME as well? Suddenly our financial situation wouldn't look that bad anymore. 1.3BE debt with ~800ME in revenue is not great, but hardly disastrous either.
