The name doesn?t really matter, whether Spotify comes before or after Camp Nou, nobody is going to call it Spotify Camp Nou, Camp Nou is Camp Nou, will forever be known as it.

I am more upset about the paltry price (?62.5m for everything), a huge reduction compared to what we got before (77.5m).

Laporta isn't Bartomeu

What can you do

Bar?a and Spotify have agreed by mutual agreement to incorporate a confidentiality clause by which the figures of the agreement will not be made public. [rac1]

The decision of the Board must be ratified in the Assembly and, although no official figures were mentioned, there’s word of €65m-70m [md]

Its a good deal for the condition we are in.
To be honest its good work from the club getting even that high.
No Messi, no CL, weakest team in decades, financialy in shambles.

Spotify is also a huge brand internationally with 410 million users if you compare to Rakuten.
I hope Barcelona will have some add space at the spotify site and app, and maybe some "deals" for spotify members. (10% of barca merch if you sign up for Spotify etc)

A bit scary that the club and Spotify both signed confidentiality on the numbers involved... could well be a bit lower than reported.

Although not sure how the club members can ratify the deal if not told of the numbers involved.

If numbers quoted are true then a fine deal in current circumstances.

Not sure what deal is with sleeve sponsor that was part of old Beko training kit payment.

That?s what I?m thinking too! If the numbers were that great, why keep them confidential? What is there to hide?

Well let's just hope the club see this as an important short term sponsorship partnership to build brand equity for the next negotiation, where salary cap and financial worries are a distant past that won't force the negotiation squeeze.

The sporting project looks well on the way to progressing, and on the way up atleast.

Look at this positively and think that numbers are so great for us that Spotify doesn't want to announce them publicly to not look bad. It's probably the other way around though.

It's interesting they want to keep details of this contract confidential given how much Laporta talked about being transparent. We're already used to him saying one thing and doing exactly the opposite though so no real surprise.

I'd think the socis would be notified of the details of the deal, including the exact amount etc. before the online vote on April 3rd, we will see. No e-mails or any type of information regarding it so far sent by the club yet.

Politicians always make promises and break them later, Laporta is one of them. Him being a politician in the past, with all the glitz and bits of being one, is something I really don't like about him.

One thing to remember is that we are going to look aesthetically current as a team with the Spotify and music artist linkage to the club. It is probably the second best sponsor partnership after TikTok (imagine the potential with perimeter ads and influencer integrations on that) for targetting the new generation of fans and their media comsumptions.

With that, the remodelling of the stadium and Xavi's project, we will need to add a player or two in the offensive position who screams star and entertainment in playing style. I touched about this in the Pep thread, where City play excellent and dominate but do not have much appeal with individual brilliance like the Ronaldinhos, Neymars, Messi before.

And even Neymar lost that appeal being in Paris at a team with little relevance and alot of branding needed to build through being stuck in Paris and a non-success in Europe.

So it is probably worth taking this deal even if the numbers are concealed through being lower.

Agreed on the part about the perception of being linked and seen with Spotify. Tiktok? Not so much, perhaps because I am too old, I tend to think it is a bit trashy. :p Also being sponsored by Tiktok carries political risks, if China invades the ROC/Taiwan or not even that, if the US and its allies decides to sanction it for whatever reason (being a Chinese company etc. Trump almost did it, forcing it to be taken down from the App store in the US or something at one point), we will be screwed.

Good point.

This is the key extract from the Spotify PR that sums up in better words what I was trying to say.

Spotify is working with Bar?a to leverage our access to in-stadium elements to amplify artists and enable discovery. For example, using the dynamic digital displays to showcase and geo-target relevant artists to Bar?a’s global TV audience. While viewers in Europe may see a message about one artist, TV viewers in India could be served a different and locally relevant message.

Second, as shirt sponsor, Spotify will work to create a new platform to amplify artist voices. We think this can be more than just a Spotify logo on a shirt. The question we’ve asked is: How can Spotify work with FC Barcelona to make the shirt a bigger platform with more opportunities for artists?

If you think about how we’ve used our marketing platforms in the past, which regularly spotlight new and female artists through our EQUAL and RADAR programs, you can get a sense of the approach we’ll be thinking about for the partnership. We are excited to see what we can dream up together.

...

There is also this line which I find very interesting.

We also love that FC Barcelona is committed to equality and supporting and cultivating diverse talent. These are values to which Spotify is equally committed.

Hmm ...
