Only 475 seats sold in the VIP for the 100 mil
Yes but for 30 years. Still doesn't look much.

I'm sure Qataris will get that investment back in a few years.
The 5% that is sold now brings cash instantly and won't bring in cash for 30 years.
This is wrong. They are not sold, Barca gave the right to use them for 30 years. It means Barca will still get the normal price for these seats from the investor, but they can resell them to a price they seem fit and keep the profit. It's a system that works for ages in the US according to Laporta. He brought it to Barca now. Barca doesn't lose anything and gain €100m, because the investor thinks they can sell these seats for more than 25.000€ per seat. It's their risk and reward.

Details of the agreement

As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have not sold the VIP seats to the aforementioned entities for the €100 million sum.
Instead, the agreements grant the investors rights to use these seats for 30 years, allowing them to generate profit from their use.
However, this arrangement does not preclude Barcelona from continuing to receive an annual payment of around €25,000 per seat per season.

Also see Elena Fort's and Laporta's press conference on this.

Not sure how exactly this will work.

I know they are full of money but why would Qataris pay for something they don't intend to use unless they got these boxes way under market price (out of Laporta's desperation) as it looks to be the case here.

Also, Is this per game or per season system?

So let's say they won't use VIP boxes for less attractive games then club can still sell these seats to other interested people/companies. So similar to season tickets holders who can sell their tickets for the games they won't go to. I assume for El Clasico and other big games sheiks will bring their business partners.

Or will they just say before the season something like "this year we'll only use 300 boxes, you can sell/rent the others".

I know nothing about this system so can't say whether it's good or bad. More clarity and transparency from Laporta would be welcomed but I sadly just can't have a blind faith in everything he does or say like some people here.

Thanks I was about to post this when I saw all the misinformation on the previous page.

And Laporta is right about VIP seats in the US, my job buys VIP boxes for the Yankees at least twice per year, we never buy them directly from the actual Yankee organization

Yea this deal is actually really good if there are not hidden clauses. Rounding up to 500 seats to do quick math. €100m divided through the 30 years of use is €3.333.333m per year for 500 seats. Meaning per seat the investor paid Barca 6.666€ per year just for the use, in addition to the normal price of 25.000€ per seat.

So for the investor to make a profit, he needs to resell them for more than 31.666€ per VIP seat per season. And if that works well, Barca can always sell another batch to use for another €100m, or just raise the VIP seat prices themselves. Laporta will watch closely for how much money the investor can sell these seats.
