frankly, you're all acting like jealous bitches.

the media went batshit, of course they fucking did.

HE IS 17 YEARS OLD AND SCORED THE WINNING GOAL IN THE LAST SECONDS OF A CRUCIAL MATCH IN HIS FIRST EVER FIRST-TEAM APPEARANCE.

that is quite literally the stuff of dreams. they lost it and rightly so.

if a barca player had done something similar we'd all be losing our shit over it.

no one's comparing him to greats (as happens with players like benzema, for example) they're just remarking what an absolutely incredible debut this young man had (and then he repeated the trick a week later). he's a special prospect, like many young players are, but the media hype was surrounding the importance of his goals and how this kid had basically set united on their way to the title.

just ask eddy how important that goal was and you'll soon understand the reason people can't shut up about him.

No one is saying his goal wasn't important. Beef is right, Sky's attitude was laughable & no, I wouldn't be going on like that had it been a Barça player. I'd be asking for a lot more before I could call him one of the greatest young players around.

did he score a winning goal in the last minute in a decisive must-win game for us during his first ever appearance in the first-team squad?

can you not comprehend how amazing that is?

who the fuck is calling him that?

he's a great prospect, and that's that.

I don't know what's wrong with you people that you feel the need to slate the hell out of a 17 year old player who's only played 5 first-team games, scored 2 winning goals, and look rather promising most all of the time. it's honestly like no one except barca can produce amazing youngsters so they must all be "overrated" and all sorts.

I don't get it. The media went crazy and that's the truth. I don't think any of us have actually criticised his skills, his playing style and his potential. It's just stupid for people to expect crazy things of him because ultimately it can come back in the worst of ways - namely that there is too much pressure on the player and it ends up being destructive. It's very simple.
He's a player with great potential but it is unjustifiable to expect that he will fit right into the first team squad next year. He might just be one of those squad + cup players, and in all reality that's how it will be. I would say that it is equally ridiculous for a culé to expect Thiago to be our immediate Xavi/Iniesta sub or for us not to have to sign a replacement for Eto'o if he leaves cause Bojan can take his place...

Just about every English pundit who has appeared on Sky.

This is where you're way off. You're acting as if if we have no time for anyone other than those who are playing for Barça & that's just not the case. This has absolutely nothing to do with Barça so I don't know where you got that from. Sky's fault. Simple.

What I don't get is that when the players section is in the FC Barcelona part of the forum, then why are all the other players here who aren't even remotely linked with us. Either have the players section somewhere else or have all these other threads outta here.

On topic: Decent player, have seen just a bit but seems to know how to make space for himself and can shoot well but has far too many Sky monkeys wanking on him.

Macheda is a good prospect. He's still very young, like bojan when he come at the glimpse. We'll see next year. Sometimes young player couldn't keep up with media expectations, it gives them weight that he couldn't carry. But, we have too see them as a growing player. Give them times. Bojan and Macheda is still a teenager. Not everyone have the ability like messi or ronaldo when they were still teenager. Ribery also didn't have those expectation when he was still teenager. Anyone remember what teenage ribery look like?

Haha... i just wasted 30 minutes of my life reading the eight pages of debate. I'll pop in a few words:
Scoring two game winning goals in his first two top flight games is definitely an accomplishment.
The media hype around Macheda and his goal against Aston Villa was enormous.
The next 3 or 4 seasons will be his sink or swim moments.

But you heard it here first. This kid has a brighter future than Baloteli.
Come on, not to be racist or anything, a black Italian? I'm pretty sure Italy is even behind Spain on the racism issues in football.

Right I'm back, what've I missed. Right Macheda has definately put himself in the spotlight and that isn't always great for youngsters coming through. Manhester United do have a shortage of strikers however so I am expecting to see more of him.
