Fernando Torres

He will never go to Real Madrid!! He hates that Club!
he also said he would like to return to Spain...
no Champions League football for Liverpool!!

Ibra + 30-40

Ibra would do well in England..

Different people have different opinions. I agree with you though, a perfectly fit Torres is better and he's a more multi-dimensional player than Villa is

Torres in his years w/ Atletico Madrid never scored 20 goals in La Liga. Dude goes to England and drops 30 and all of a sudden he's better than Villa? A man who has played for a horrible offensive teams in Valencia, Zaragoza, and Sporting Gijon and scored consistently? In his second year for Gijon's first team Villa dropped 20 goals, something that Torres never did for AMadrid. please. don't believe the EPL hype.

I respect others' opinions, just stating my own :)

And well there is something called gaining experience which Torres gained a lot of when he came to EPL, coming back to La Liga after a few years in EPL may prove him to be an amazing player

That was in Segunda Division, Villa never scored 20 for Gijon in La Liga, or play for them in first division, for that matter.

Also Torres scored 20 goals a season in two instances for Atletico Madrid, and he scored consistently despite the fact that he was surrounded by mediocre players. And as much as Villa fans like to delude themselves, he is surrounded by plenty of quality players in Valencia.
Also, while Villa is probably better as a pure goalscorer, Torres is more creative and is plays effectively as a target man, which seems to be something Pep prefers. He provides more alternatives than Villa does. Add on to that the fact that he's about 3 years younger than Villa, and now you understand why I prefer Torres over Villa.

Not like I want any new striker or am disappointed with the present one... but do you mean like Pique with that experience thing?

Torres is more creative, on basis of what? If anything Villa is more creative of the two. Better passing and vision to pick out a pass for his teammates, he was the top assister in 06-07 season. He can play your target man, poacher or drop deep to collect the ball. Better off the ball movement and more skillful on the ball. A superior finisher and a proven dead ball specialist. Torres is better in the air than Villa but hes probs better than most at it. But Villa even for his stature has a good heading ability (much better than a certain swede). All in all Villa is more multi-dimensional than Torres. Not the other way round.
And if Torres is really that good why does he underperform for his National team?

Anyway, i'd be happy with either of them. Both are an upgrade of what we currently have.

Something along those lines, yes... I think that going to EPL definitely introduces some new experiences to a player that can potentially make them a much better player if they return to their old league later.

I've always been of the opinion that EPL is the most rigorous league from what I have observed, so any other league would be less of a challenge than EPL. I am NOT saying that La Liga, etc. are not challenging but compared to EPL, EPL is the greater challenge. Torres and other players say that themselves.

I just think that Torres is a more explosive player that can break down tight defensive lines easily, also he's one of the best in the air, if not the best, which could come handy if we encounter a team like Inter again. And like I already said he's about 3 years younger than Villa. And if you consider the fact that Villa takes all the penalties for Valencia while Torres has yet to take a single penalty for Liverpool, Torres's goalscoring record looks a lot better than Villa's.
Having said that though, you're right, any one of them is better than what we have right now...

i think both torres and villa would be a better plan B for us.
they both have great shots..and can head the ball.

Never really considered Torres because of Liverpool's interest in him but with their recent cash shortage, I can see it. I don't think reacting by purchasing without analysis would do us any good though. We need to take this loss as a learning experience and not spend impulsively like realmadrid would.

exactly. i prefer us to stick with ibra now but the thing is, pep bought him to give us a plan b.
now, we are at the end of the season and still no sign of plan b.
yes he can hold the ball, but he doesnt add any aerial threat which we clearly lack.

torres wouldve been perfect last season but liverpool wouldnt sell cos they thought they could win the title.
but this season is even better imo.
he had an injury plague season, so high chance that he will be injury free this season.
