People should have more restrictions with their votes. There should be a system in which you can use a 4 3 3 or 4 2 3 1, as these 2 kinda fill every playing position there is.

So, one mandatory defensive mid, two at most. Simply picking the three midfielders with most votes is retarded. Also only because Ronaldo and Messi don't really play CF were we spared three 9s for the front three every year.

It is how team of the year has always been for almost every votes except for the UEFA.com
That is how team of the year operates .the best players in certain lines .not the best in each position
It has its pros and cons tbf .for example making it by position with such variety in tactics could be unfair to many players as putting them in a certain position will be ambiguous .are they CM?AM?DM? etc . it could also split votes for one player in many positions .may hinder people voting for a player because they don't think he is actually a player of that position

If you look at the format you are saying for example .the results based on votes will be like this
Neuer
Alves-T.Silva-Ramos-Marcelo
Modric or Kroos as DM and Iniesta and Pogba as CM/AM
Messi,Cr7 & Suarez .
