Even under Pep the defense has leaked goals last season. 3 goals in 2 legs against Chelsea who were heavily parking the space shuttle. 2 goals in Camp Nou against Real Madrid. 4 goals against Milan in 2 legs in the group stages. 3 goals against Osasuna ...

Yesterday's result was only down to 1 thing. Complacency after being up 3-0 after 20 minutes. The team just stopped playing after that. Conceded 3 goals with 11 men in 47 minutes but only 1 goal (freak own goal) while being down to 10 men in 46 minutes. That's complacency for you and nothing else. When shit hit the fan (red card), the players started to actually give a fuck again.

I didn't see that at all. Defense was abysmal from minute 1 to minute 90, and that was as clear in the goals as it was in the unsuccessful Depor attacks. And it's not even an off day... we are sweating to make it through every single match, both with the big guys and the smaller sides. I don't think that refusing to admit that is doing us any service.

Vilanova: "Pique, Alves and Puyol won't be available for tomorrow's game against Celtic. Hope one could be back for Saturday game."

Vilanova: "Many goals conceded this season? Injuries don't explain everything, but you have to analyze each goal separately."

Vilanova: "We didn't sign Song only to play in midfield, he's also an option at centre back. He played a good game against Deportivo."

Vilanova: "Time for Bartra? I'm responsible for the line-up. You're asking more about Bartra than about Montoya, who's been doing excellent"

Vilanova: "You always want to score more and concede less. We're working hard for both. Three own-goals isn't normal.

Vilanova: "I didn't talk to Valdes and I'm not worried. You can't have doubts, seeing the games and trophies he won for us. Not an issue."

Vilanova: "Messi breaking record after record? We won't ever see another player like him. Let's enjoy his game for as long as we can."

Vilanova: "Since Cruyff, it's part of our philosophy to give chances to academy players. We play with 7, 8, 9, and one day it will be 11."

Vilanova: "Song and Mascherano are a good centre back duo. The goals we conceded against Deportivo weren't their fault."

Vilanova: "Other coaches campaigning for Ballon d'Or? Don't want to do that. People can see every game Messi does things no one else does."

Vilanova: "Adriano again centre back? He's very fast, good passing, and used to tactical concepts that are still not as clear to others."

Lol at the "Song and Mascherano are a good centre back duo." quote.

Also lol at "Song played a good game against Deportivo". The keyword here is good, Song was good in that he didn't fuck up royally and no goals were a direct result of him...however he was too eager to come forward and leave a big gap behind himself, quicker teams would surely have exploited that. Song can be better if he just chills and doesn't leave his defensive line erratically and run towards midfield.

He wasn't at fault for any goal so by that definition he was good. It's Masch who worries me most though, he's been messing up so much this season. Hopefully tommorow Song plays as a DM and Bartra plays next to Masch, we need height against Celtic.

Some very wise replies from Tito. The man, sure knows how to handle the press especially how he has indirectly campaigned for Messi:worthy:

I think Adriano will play as CB with Masch and Alba LB

You really believe that? In the penalty, he was nowhere near the area during Depor's counter, and although it wasn't a pen, Masche wouldn't have had to sweep the ball if there was somebody covering him. In the second goal, Masche realizes the danger and tries to get in the way and wall it... Song reacts way too late. In the fourth Alba does screw the pooch, but he wouldn't have had to if there was a CB in there to begin with,

Don't get me wrong, he was great as a deep sitting MF, but if we were to judge him as a CB, that's the worst CB in the history of La Liga.

No, there have been FAR worse CB's, some of which have played for Barca, trust me on that one.

I like that epic team moments but if we can save them, specially in big games, my heart will live more.
