They train so they can be ready to play the next game, so that their bodies are ready for the game stresses with minimized chance of injury. I don't think training today indicates much about how serious this is.

Tito has the right to privacy about his medical situation. It might take him, his doctors and the team a while to decide how to proceed with his job. I'm no doctor, but I'd think this recurrence would range somewhere from bad to the worst. This disease can be episodic, so even if he can come back to work, that might not mean he is out of the woods for his long-term prognosis.

His most important role is dad.

It seems is far less worse than thought. The doctors are saying he could be home by christmas, it's not as bad as the one he had last year.
