Highlights of his 2 last matches has been impressive imo. When he makes those forward runs and plays higher on the pitch he looks like a brilliant player, €80m worth.
Hope he'll play in front of Busquets at Barca, as a CM/AM. This kid has a lot to offer going forward, as I already said many times.

He plays in a rather reserve role but still shows the talent and ability to be more than just being used as a Busi Successor.

Would rather the DM spot go to a player who provides the athleticism and steel this time around.

Busqs is the perfect DM for us but he needs a mobile midfielder in front or around him . Frankie is perfect to play iwith with Busqs and Arthur

“Best player you have ever faced?” Griezmann: “I would say Frenkie de Jong. Because I tried to pressure him but I never succeeded.”

Yep, exactly. Can't believe people judge Busquets (even to the point of wanting us to sell him and keep Rakitic instead, which is just ridiculous and is reaching new heights of stupidity among our fan base) when he has to play with statues like Rakitic and Vidal in front of him (who want to occupy the same spaces and do the same job as Busquets does, because they're too bad to actually do anything else).

Put quality, creative midfielders like Xaviesta were (and like Arthur and De Jong/Alena are) in front of him again, and you'll get the very best version of Busquets once again.

IMHO he is a perfect solution for a DM role. To be able to excel in CM/AM role he needs to improve his final pass and his shooting skills.

+1 and Rabiot in the other CM spot with Arthur would be quality.

Doubt Busi will be dropped anytime soon though.

But to be able to excel in the CM/AM role is exactly why it will be so great to have him. Since Busquets won't be regularly dropped for at least 2 more years, especially not under a pragmatic manager like EV, this way there's a way for Frenkie to walk into our starting lineup anyway. And with Busquets in that lineup, Frenkie would have the freedom to roam forward with the ball at his feet, which he LOVES to do, and something which Iniesta did regularly too. While in the games, where Busquets rests (which should be more and more often as time goes by) De Jong can still play those games at DM and adjust to playing that position as well to be ready to take over from Busquets eventually, if we choose that position long term for him and not the CM/AM one.

De Jong seems to be as good as it can get when taking on more CM or even AM role, but from what i've seen the teams in which he plays just forces him to be the kind of Beckenbauer type universal, because there are no good mids in any area. At Barca he should find more space to specialize unless of course Valverde.;/
