 Like playing in a system that they didn't play in previously. FdJ goes from high energy all out transitional Ajax sytem where he breaks beating a player from box area then releasing hard-running forwards to trying to play from out wide to players whose first instinct is basically to take a touch and look to pass backwards, then it's back to the plodding cross-field passing until Messi gets bored and forces the ball to players incapable of playing that way. :banghead:

It's due to recruitment. We didn't need De Jong, we needed a pure DM to replace. We didn't need a player whos great at linking at the defense to midfield (what a defensive midfielder does), with the dribbling and physicality of a great centre midfielder, but unfortunately incapable of playing either pure role to a high degree either. Which instead forces us to bring another CM to babysit him. We needed a pure CM, pure DM, and another pure CM/no. 8. This is what we needed, but unfortunately once again we looked for the "celebrity option" and picked De Jong instead.

This team is not set up for the type of midfield he needs to excel at. It's also not set up for Griezmann to succeed. Also not for Coutinho. if De Jong can't adapt to a pure role then he's yet another failure in Barto's high profile transfers.

Not true. DeJong is the only good thing we have going on midfield.

De Jong?s problem is that he is exceptional in certain aspects of the game (control, awareness and dribbling) but lacking in other (attacking abilities, strength). He?s an overhyped talent that can reach a high level. But at the moment, he?s far from it. De Jong is not the big savior of this Barca.

Supporters are expecting to much. Supporters are butthurt he didn?t deliver on the hype, mostly because they only saw the Madrid game 2 years back. But he isn?t that bad either, in no way the problem of this squad.

You are a buffoon. I clearly stated that many players that were good in teams, we bought them from, have become underwhelming. It's not that all these good players influence each other in the bad way and turn to shit at Barca. It's obviously club is doing something wrong and it wouldn't be a surprise, wouldn't it? :bartomeu:

And yet other players excell in the same team and still able to show their worth. Paulinho >>>> Hype De Jong

Literally carried our midfield today. This man is class, worldclass but Barca needs to step up to let him show his full potential. 18/19 he was top3 midfield player in the world.

World class this match? Never.

If Barca is stacked then Roberto could be a top RB. Not kidding.

And his 18/19 season is not relevant to this season. He didnt even play for Barca during that 18/19 season.

Busquest is one of the best DM in history yet now he is criticized most of the time.

Best match of the season so far. Started very shaky, but after 20 mins got into his groove. In the second half he had a very sexy pass to Alba that had me surprised. Seems like he has some confidence issues that needs to get worked out. It's all mental for him I feel.
