Not quite true... he was very deep a lot of the time and Bilbao suffocating them but he was getting ball forward nearer end when it opened up a bit and won ball and played to Guiu for about only chance had in ET.
Why you always find excuses for him not deliver? He played deep back because he asks the ball there. He can ask it more into the midfielder but then goes between the central defenders, gets the ball and plays a pass that Araujo could have given himself. It’s because he doesn’t feel the need to be the main guy. He likes to pass around all the time without a goal. Just possession game for the possession game.

Yess in the ED he finally thought about making a move and created that chance from the 100 balls he got doing nothing. Instead of you pointed that out also you only back him up

Yeah he wasnt great due to that dip in middle of game and the tracking of run.

One of few who had something about themselves to try and raise game towards end.

Strangely looked lethargic in middle third of game and fittest player from there.

Its not an excuse... he was deep as Barca were trying to play out from back and Bilbao did very good job of boxing in FDJ and Gundo to force Barca to play out through Kounde/Araujo etc,

He is the one that asks for ball more than anyone else and the one who progresses ball more than anyone else.

Tonight he was poor for spells and was poor on goal and came on stronger as game opened up.

You have no clue as per usual.

Literally he is most progressive player in team with the most line breaking passes and through balls this season you are speaking absolute nonsense.

De Jong fans are the only fans who routinely say things like.

We lost 4-1 today, but he was our best player, we lost 3-0 today but he was the best Midfielder.

That's like saying you're the best reader in a room filled with illiterates.

Fake news.. saying he didnt play well for middle part of game and Bilbao limited him and Gundo well.

From there when game opened up he was one of the better players.

Xavi fanboys always with the excuses.

Always excuses for worse players than FDJ or just stay silent.. nothing on how bad Kounde was.. Pedri been fucking miles off FDJ this season.. or 'great signing' Lewa poor again etc.

Against who he gives those passes? Mid table teams when he got tons of space and it’s easy. When the games are big he’s mostly afraid to dictate especially when they’re behind and the team is begging for a guidance. I’m Dutch myself and have seen literally every game from him at Barca, Ajax and the national team also. In the national team he did nothing at the World Cup when they needed him, at the Euro’s 2 years before he was good at 2 group stage games but against the Czech Republic in the last 16 he again gave the task away. It’s a habbit.

Because i know him very well I also know he has it in his locker to be a great player but some how some way he don’t feel the need to do it constantly. His best game for Barca was probably the Copa final vs Bilbao and the 3-0 vs Real last year. Those performances he has to deliver way way more in order to be called one of the best. Most of the time he backs down in important matches and plays too safe. In which big CL match he played great?

Against the same teams as everyone else in the league....

Against Real he has been Barcas best mid by far under Xavi for example.

The World Cup where he got MOTM, assisted and scored in first 3/4 games?

Top stuff.

Barca didnt beat Real 3-0 last year... and he was even better in 4-0 win at Bernabeu and the 2-1 win to win league last season more or less last season.

Luckily all the matches can be found online of the world cup and i dare anyone to check them and say if he played good or not. He went missing most of the part and scored 1 easy sitter. Gave 1 assist to Gakpo that wasn’t bad but overall a very poor World Cup from him where he again played mostly sideways or back. Where did you saw 3/4 assists/goals?

That 2-1 v Real last season that more or less secured league.

FDJ....

Made most passes.
Highest pass % of any mid and second only to Christensen
Won ball back most in Barca side with 5 tackles/interceptions.
Most progressive carries.
Most succesful dribbles.
More progressive passing yds than any mid
Most key passes with 5.. next best had 2.

He dominated middle of park in that game and not through 'safe passing only does v smaller teams'.

Barca have played 7 games in 21 days in January.. all of them away from home.

Frenkie has played the full 90 minutes in every game including the two cup ties v no marks.

Fucking moronic way to manage squad.

No wonder they end up with injuries.

FDJ can play well against weak or mid-level teams.
Don't expect him to help Barca when facing a strong team,

Reminds me the Barca team after Valverde left. Doing well or ok by winning weaker teams. But back to losing when facing stronger teams. Fans keep swinging in the pendulum of hope and despair. Same thing for FDJ

He was Barcas best player against Real Madrid last season...

And in the game before that was best mid on park when won 4-0 there.

He has been best player on park v them for Ajax before that.

Like all the players they need a structure and decent team around them to perform at their best.. that is true of FDJ.. Pedri, Gavi, Gundo, Araujo.. any of them.

Even Messi needs that.

All of them will have poorer games at times also v biggest teams at times..it happens.

The players to worry about are the ones that are average v poorer/average teams and rarely ever play well v the better ones.

My concern is that we are having a bunch of players that play well vs average teams, but disappear vs the better teams.
Or even worse, the same may apply to our current gamepaln, if there exist one.

Of course, it all depends on if we still aim to be the very best team in the world, or content to be a team under rebuilding.
