According to SPORT we secured a first option on him.

They were saying it was probably best for both parties for this to happen as Gabriel can stay in Brazil until he thinks he's ready and us having first Dibs on him to prevent other clubs from trying to get him. we are pretty much paying money in advance to do so. (they compared it to the Neymar deal a couple of years before we officially signed him).

It seems Raul and Curry convinced Jesus, that we were the right option for him when he is ready. We should always keep on top of this like we did with Ney and not like the other guys we had first options on.
